Are we bad people? - Morality and the farms.

We're no worse than people gossiping and mocking celebrities. We gossip, and talk shit about people. So does the entire fucking population of the world. Old church ladies (in my experience) are just as bad about this as we are. You can unclutch those pearls now.

We could always be worse - but, of course, we could always be better too. Obviously, not all of us are as bad as some of the cows we have on here, but some of us could be considered awful people. Just not as awful as we have the potential to be. But as humans, we find those we consider lesser than us as a forme of entertainment (such as cute animals. Except a lot of lolcows are not cute - just sad, pathetic or both).

The userbase of any website, such as the Farms, is a mixed bag. There are probably some genuinely awful people on here who could be hiding in plain sight. And for every person who's like that, there's also a user who is an absolute sweetheart. It's just a matter of whether or not they bring attention to their antics, and how they're able to express themselves.

I don’t think it’s a good thing that we laugh at cows, but in moral terms I don’t see it as a dreadful sin. Lolcows choose to make their actions public, therefore they implicitly accept people’s reactions. If they don’t get the reaction they were hoping for, boo-hoo.

Us humans are drawn to drama for pretty biological reasons really, we thrive to figure who we are and look to others to figure things out, and inwardly reflect on ourselves, but we need to see a society of any sort to reflect.

Some of us are bad, some good. Being on the farms doesn't mean one way or the other. Clearly some people have done bad things, be it shit posting to far worse and I mean just here. Maybe a really shitty poster is a great person in reality, or vice versa.

Good and bad are just loose moral terms, we all have some concepts that we consider good and some bad. Some may say I'm a bad person on the color of my skin, fact I don't donate as much as I could afford or my own belief systems.

I've met many caring, kind people here, I really can't say aside the cows I've met anyone I consider scummy. As silly as it may sound, I think sites like this are over all in ways positive, how many of these people aren't being held accountable for criminal/dishonest/disgusting behavior. It's nice to finally have a place for sanity to vent.

This is one aspect of my life, even just my online time. Anyone who can disregard an entire human based on a little net time is pretty autistic and shallow unless they were doing some truly sick CP hunting or something.

tl;dr

lol it's a website calm down.

One thing that puts me off here sometimes is that I feel it's just hate for the sake of hate. Like Zoe Quinn plays Sonic today, "stupid bitch! typical to choose a crap game instead of Mario", today Zoe Quinn has a cheese sandwich "stupid bitch! she should have tuna or something", Zoe Quinn just bought a transformer toy "stupid bitch! she should like Ninja Turtles". Some of the lolcow threads just feels like hysterical heckling for the sake of heckling sometimes, like you can see the posters jumping up and down desperate to find something mock-able in any innocuous tweet "Wu just went to see the new Disney film" - "stupid bitch! doesn't she know that the tea-boy for that movie was sexist once - ha hypocrite" like we expect them to be perfect and never contradictory.

for example, in one recent thread on a mad feminist - "she likes game of thrones - something there doesn't add up" - they're human beings, of course they're gonna like pop culture. Same as a Kiwi might enjoy an occasional film with a social-justice bent. Plenty of SJWs admit to liking entertainment they find imperfect, I don't know why that's such a hysterical triumph here "look we found them liking a thing that isn't 100% their views, ha"

Also, I am fed up with Kiwis making authoritative statements about things they don't know much about. Just browsing yesterday I saw authoritative claims about PTSD people, trans people, and British Muslims that I know are inaccurate. In order to mock whatever some lolcow just said on twitter.

And I say all this as someone who believes that KF needs to exist and that lolcows need to be watched (esp. ones who use their autism/mental illness as an excuse to crap on the people around them) and who is fed up with arrogant, middle class Social Justice.

Well we're not actively hurting people. When something catastrophic happens to someone we're laughing at, it's usually of their own doing.

As for what God or whatever omnipotent being is out there, I like to imagine he doesn't give a shit. For all we know, he and his buddies are watching and laughing at us through their own version of Kiwi Farms.

The vast majority of people we talk about are getting ridiculed for their behavior, period. Having a disability, being a minority, or being a member of a marginalized group (whatever they call it?) is not an excuse for being a jackass.
If it goes beyond gossip, as in harassment, or you start becoming a stalker, then you're a fucked up individual. Otherwise, anyone who claims they don't laugh at assholes or stupid people are liars.

Look at it this way: are we really any different from sites like People of Walmart?

(I do think sometimes the doxing gets a wee out of hand -- I think it should be used only in extreme cases. It just feels a little stalkerish to me. That's all)
