So is it a lack of skill, intellect, or balls that's the main reason Carl sucks so bad at defending himself? His behaviour towards Tonka was pretty weird when he was called out on it during the Kumite. There would never have been any beef between them if he'd just been honest from the start it seems about what Tonka, Failure, and their platform are about. He seemed very condescending to them, even after things calmed down during the talk.

Yeah, he's definitely not dumb, but he's like the classic example of a 'midwit', which is a variant of the Dunning-Kruger effect wherein a person is in the high average range of intelligence (e.g. an IQ of 110), but still has the lack of meta-cognition a lot of low IQ people have. So, he probably believes himself to have an IQ of like 130+. It's a horrible position to be in, I think, because imagine having the lack of self awareness a lot of autists have, but not having high IQ autist potential.

I think the reaaon Sargon draws ire from both sides is because he has a tendency to talk down to people rather than talk with people. This works in short videos but not so much with conversations or "debates"

You can actually see this in a lot of debates where he profusely agrees with his opponent, it's a subtle way of patronising someone and making their concerns trivial. Kinda like if your wife finds out you've been banging the pool boy and you just keep saying "Yes, dear. Sorry, dear"

Took a much sharper dive mid-month in December though, dropping nearly 1k per month between his peak in November to January. Could just be a natural recession from peak support, but seems like all this drama could have taken a decent toll on all the progress he made in 2017.

I feel you there, but Sargon would've just gotten tired, left, and made a stream crying about how right he was about the Kumite being toxic whatever. Tonka handled Sargon well and proved to both him and the audience that Sargon's statement about the Kumite went against his own "principles". Better still, Tonka did it without having any personal beef with the guy. It wasn't the most satisfying takedown, but it's more than Sargon's ego would normally allow.

Sargon's apology reeks of insincerity, but that's not Tonka's fault. That's just Sargon trying to keep up the appearance of dignity. I do think it's hilarious how much he carried on about protecting his image/brand on that stream, considering this is only a few weeks after the whole "white niggers" thing.

I really want to see Sargon and Jim duke it out properly, but I doubt Sargon would go through with it and Jim doesn't seem all that interested in having words with him atm.

He's been really consistent with this view for many years. It doesn't mean he's not looking to make a chunk of change on the side, a man has to work and I'd never begrudge someone for looking after number one, but he really does comes off to me as genuine on that point, he just goes about this whole Liberalalitiatis bullshit completely the wrong way IMO, in a way that he seems to just completely not understand how and why serious political movements are formed and succeed.

Yeah, I'm honestly still having a hard time figuring out what could have been going on in his mind during that stream. I would have expected him to just write off the "white nationalist echo chamber" thing as a slip up that happened when he wasn't focused and just ignore any further superchats mentioning/asking about the Kumite, but somehow he thought stubbornly doubling down and trying to come up with excuses as to why it's okay to allow misinformation to be spread would make him look good. Probably hubris making him not want to admit he did something wrong, but even then I don't see how he couldn't realize that more or less openly justifying lying would make him look like the bad guy.

The worst part of this (for them) is that, aside from being too far outside the overton window to ever reach the heights "Skeptic" youtube did, the heavy focus on internet drama is going to severely limit new viewership. Can't imagine anyone who hasn't been in this part of the internet for a while already being able to follow all of this stuff.

This morning, I was watching Failure's 24-hour stream (it's been split up into a few parts) to help raise money for a guy named Beardbarian who seems very nice. Failure fell asleep and muted himself on the stream so the people in the call couldn't hear him, but the chat could. His phone alarm went off at 8 AM Eastern. For almost three hours.

A little into the alarm driving people crazy, Beardbarian tried to start a stream with a public domain movie, but to no avail. It was shut down with a copyright claim in 10-15 minutes and nailed the guy's ability to stream for 90 days.

During that time, though, Vee got Sargon on and Sargon came to speak briefly--and his audio was pretty quiet--during this fucking alarm thing. It was hilarious. He was so passionate and no one gave a shit, it was all, "Alarm is love, alarm is life" and, "All hail the Alarmistan/the alarmnostate".

On the Kumite, after Failure woke up, Tonka chewed him out for oversleeping so hard the chat started worshipping his alarm while Sargon gave a brief speech about Count Dankula's predicament today. His anger is of course understandable, it's fucked up Dankula had to go to court for this at all, but with the alarm loudly going with his soft audio, the absurdity of the situation really cracked me up.
