"Girly" Video Games

I really liked styling hair in Fashion Foward imo
Tbf, hairstyling was the thing that I ended up doing the most in Fashion Forward. It was also a really easy way to stockpile money in my experience.

My biggest issues with Fashion Forward were the plot and the focus on miniatures or whatever, and the palettes thing for makeup. I like how Styling Star is going back to the more """realistic""" plot (it's VERY similar to Trendsetters, at least in the demo). I like how we're still able to do the the things that were in Fashion Forward (hair, makeup, and now nails), and also how the graphics look a bit better (imo). Hopefully they improved on male fashion; it was one thing that I felt wasn't fleshed out well enough in Trendsetters.

What are your thoughts on Star Girls? I just started with the base game and it's certainly fun. Perhaps it's because I'm old enough not to be badly affected by its media message.

I haven't heard anything about the company, what's going on with them?

It probably has something to do with how Nancy Drew : Midnight in Salem is now two years past what they said was the release date. I know they were trying to make it in Unity this time around, but the general consensus was that it was giving people too much motion sickness so it's possible they had to scrap it and remake from the ground up in whatever engine.

I haven't heard anything about the company, what's going on with them?

Basically, back in 2015, they released a preview for their next game, Midnight in Salem (as per usual). However, they changed CEOs, and the new CEO put it on the backburner to produce a mobile app for small children that flopped spectacularly. They also laid off their entire development staff and outsourced to an unknown company. The only people they have on staff right now are the CEO, a couple paid interns that do PR, and some guy managing their back stock of unsold stuff. According to an ex-writer, the entire script was complete and the game was in development ~fall of 2014 before the decision to switch to Unity was made. Supposedly, the new game is still being produced, but they've refused to give any sort of update other than a canned copy-paste answer of "Unity is hard." They announced a "major update" back in May of this year, but they have yet to actually release said update. Meanwhile, some comments that have been spreading the true information for fans less in-the-know have been deleted without warning. Most of the info has come from dedicated fans taking screenshots when one of the interns slips up and heartbroken former staff.

For what it's worth, there've been rumors about the contract with Simon & Schuster (the publishing company that owns the copyright to Nancy Drew). Apparently, if they don't release some form of product or massive update in the near future, then HeR Interactive will lose their copyright privileges. That's just speculation on the part of the Nancy Drew subreddit, though.

TL;DR new CEO fucks over company, fans are pissed, new game is in YandereDev levels of development hell but without the 20 minute long bimonthly updates.

If you want to see some exceptional rage sometime, check out the Nancy Drew Games facebook page and just take a dive. If you want more details about the stuff that the interns have slipped, the HeR Interactive message board has a comprehensive timeline here.

EDIT: ninja'd.

I don't usually play casual games, but sometimes if I'm on a long phone call, I'll play Insaniquarium. On the bus to work I play Plants vs. Zombies.

I typically play RTS games, but unless I'm on a call with someone else playing the game, I can't focus on both the game and the conversation.

I legitimately liked farmville. Also:

I'm a massive sperg for character makers. (Kisekae, Rinmaru, Dolldivine.) Nintendogs, The LPS games, Cooking Mama and Barbie and the Three Musketeers are pretty fun. Cake Mania: In the mix was a nice Wii game. The Sims is fun, though Bustin' Out is probably my favorite.

I do miss playing the sims games from time to time.

Oh, hey, anyone heard of the Sega Genisis game called Belle's Quest? Been wanting to download that and play it because she's my all time favorite Disney Princess.

You'll need all of Belle's charm and wit to save her father, imprisoned by the hideous Beast. But to reach him, you must first outsmart the persistent Gastón. Then journey astride your faithful steed, Philippe, to a thick, black forest maze of wild animals and hidden traps to reach the enchanted castle on the other side. Search carefully for the castle's hidden secrets. Find them all to break the spell and return the Beast to his human form.

Obligatory Cooking Mama series.
i really like Cook Serve Delicious for it's weird cross between business "sim", speed challenge, Iron Chef, and typing. i kinda liked Restaurant Empire for the same reasons... at least the decorate your restaurant portion was fun and relatively glitch-free.

KISS Maker was/is a very old online dress up game from the mid/late 90s - early 00s. As I remember it, it was semi modular so people could add on whatever outfits they chose to their instance of it.
fun fact: KISS has 6-degrees-of-separation with pre-web 2.0 lolcow Jennifer Diane Reitz and the crew at Otaku World.

completely unrelated, is Ecco the Dophin a "girl game"? it was a time traveling alien-fighting dolphin...

Not sure, but growing up, it was the best of the "I don't want violent video games in my house and if I see even a pixel of blood, you are so grounded!" games I had.

I lowkey would play it again just for dat nostalgia trip
Oh god I completely forgot what this game was called, thanks for reminding me. One time I just fucked around and made my characters do the most ridiculous-looking dances.

I've been playing Yakuza 0 and the Sunshine Club mini-game is pretty addicting. You get to customize, dress up, and train your platinum hostess and afterwards you get to run the club for a couple minutes and earn a ton of money. This mini-game was entirely unexpected, considering the rest of the game is a sausage fest.

That looks like it would make an interesting standalone title.

I adore the Sims 3 game despite the terrible optimization, I have almost all of the Sims 3 EPs and I initially finally bought it because mermaids (duh).

I also loved Barbie Secret Agent, because one of the missions had a dress-up part but I was also super secret stealther.

I've always wanted Animal Crossing, and it's definitely on my to-buy list.

I also may have like 800 hours in Bejeweled 3. No bully, I have the biggest thing for match-3 games. I also like puzzle/logic games, so Picross and games like it are very fun for me.
