Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

So none of you ever just sit back and think "Man I really shouldn't be this pissed off about funnybooks" eh?

CG is actually more interesting. The comics fans are by nature a bit older, better read and more literate amd well spoken than the typical Gamers and it shows in their materials. It is much harder to demonize them. While the Gamer's did have a broad spectrum going back 3 generations it is far more weighted to the 20 and 30 somethings who's approach to communication is X-Box Live shit talk. The comics fans are more weighted to the 40 something family types with well established careers, lots of life experience and a broad swath of actual real world skills. Whereas the comic industry is mainly, to quote from D&C "20 something childless losers" with no real life experience, no real ability to be literate, well spoken or well presented, and little understanding of how economics works.

Probably the most fascinating part of this is with CG the fools in the industry are trying to follow the Anti-Gamergate Gaming Press strategy. They someone never connect that in GG the press was a one off. The Gamers only had an indirect economic influence on the Journalists, as the actual economic relationship was between the Gamers and the Devs/Publishers. The Gamers needed to go to the advertisers to effect the gaming press. (Which they did, extremely succesfully). That's a slower process. Whereas with Comicsgate? The idiots are insulting the people that directly buy their product every month. That give them money. And would you look at that, when you call them racist sexist homophobic transphobic murderous nazi's a few times they STOP GIVING YOU MONEY!. And this happens very very fast. (Just ask IDW). Comicsgate ends with the destruction of another hipster soyboy jobs program and a bunch of pretentious starving artists and tumblrina's trying to find another way to fund their self diagnosed gender confusion.
Weirdly I think a lot of these same points are why CG never seems to gain the same amount of traction as GG did. I remember when GG was at its peak there were tons of people going "COMICSGATE WHEN" and jumping at the chance to find a catalyst for it when it came to controversies like Batgirl's #ChangeTheCover or the harassment accusations, but those never lasted more than a week or two.

A big factor for this I think is with the comics industry compared to others is that the companies tend to thrive in controversy. It's no secret that publishers like Marvel have gone on record saying that they measure the potential success of a marketing stunt based on how angry or will make fans because it gets people talking about the comics, and talk makes people curious, and prospective comic shops often interpret that curiosity as more sales and This order more issues than usual; and you can tell pretty much every comic "journalist" is salivating at the chance to write the next hit piece because it's the only way they're relevant in a shrinking industry.

But another part of it is that this difference in business models means that comic nerds and gamers aren't interchangeable strategy-wise. Comic nerds have seen this song n' dance a million times before, and as a result they've grown used to simply waiting this shot out until things are inevitably returned to the status quo. Increased press tends to prolong the reverting process because of the artificial sales boost, so the less attention terrible comics get the faster they die.

What women really want are nice, sensitive men with non-threatening bodies. Everyone knows this except the pigs in Hollywood.

This is why you always see romance novels with soyboys with twirled hipster mustaches and skinny pants making a scream face on the cover. Women never buy novels with a topless, hairy-chested man ripping the bodice off a busty woman in what looks like a rape scene.

Everyone knows the average Harlequin novelist is a 6'4" Adonis. It's no fucking wonder that the typical protagonist in a rape fetish novel is a Fabio knock-off.

I dream of the day when the cover models of romance novels finally reflect the skinnyfat and sensitive, unofficial Filson look-book model archetype which women desire, and to which I belong.

ComicsGate will never achieve GamerGate infamy for the simple reason that no one fucking reads comics anymore

that's all there is to it; the comics readers ITT can rationalize until the cows come home but that will never ever put a comic book into little Timmy's hand, ever again

I mean, it also doesn't help that GG really fagged up the image of the whole "consumer revolt" thing. Of course things lose their bite when every dipshit is wailing "___gate when?!" and threatening le revolt every other day.

Pretty much every Reddit movement is going to have this problem now. I couldn't care less. Slacktivism is a cancer on society.

You really want to change the comics world?Stop buying ALL the comics from 'bad' publishers and don't talk about them. Good press doesn't pay the bills. D&C seems like a decent guy but at this point the whole controversy is just one hive of ants attacking a different hive.

Stan Lee looks on in disgust from his retirement home.

More like a practically blind Stan Lee missing his wife and his ability to read while vultures circle him for money and his former company drags him out to make some vague speech about acceptence to try to win some twitter argument. He sits there alone in his chair wishing Jack or Steve were still around before his daydreams are interrupted by some reporter asking his opinions on some YA writer replacing his legacy with gay Muslim black trannies.

A moment where he wonders if in the end a long successful life like his is a curse when it leads to witnessing everything rotting away alone.

Y'know i see that a lot of anger about it from the CG-ers, Marvel dragged Stan Lee to his laptop to make a video where he says "bigots are bad" and used it as a "Heh, Checkmate Bigots even Stan doesnt want you here". Now that Stan is getting sicker, conned, defamed and having his legacy shit on, Marvel and the usual suspects dont acknowledge it at all:
