That's just paint thinner huffing insane. But I agree with Manic!Kurt, someone whose name starts with a "K" is in dire, dire need of a psychiatrist, or a straight jacket. It's just not Kyle. I would also vote for an ongoing series by Jim, because this shit really unravels faster and crazier than before. "Internet Insanity: The Wacko Kurt Chronicles."

I didn't know anything about this guy until the MrMetokur videos. Due to time constraints, I tend to focus on the lolcows here who are likely to offer the biggest dividends of lols for my time and that don't require a lot of obscure tacit knowledge about a community or sub-culture. In other words, I stick to the market leaders... the blue chips. This guy wasn't on my radar at all but he just got upgraded to strong buy. This is some top notch stuff we are witnessing. Most lolcows start at the bottom and eek out some obscure notoriety and infamy, but it's pretty rare that you see someone with some mainstream success descend into this darkness with such breathtaking vigor.

This whole thing would be a great Twilight Zone or Black Mirror plot, right? A successful journalists, trapped in a mirror universe, finds that he has been replaced by a strange sexual deviant version of himself in the real world and has been accused of egregious, career-ending wrongdoing. The only way he can communicate with the world to make things right is via Twitter and prime-time TV appearances on major news networks, and every rational attempt to set the record strait from the mirror universe is somehow twisted into something that comes off as completely insane.

That status is meaningless anyway. If a publisher and/or the author wants to get that title, they or some company/organization they have a deal with just buy literal pallets of the book in question immediately on release. These then sit in a warehouse for a little while, still all wrapped on the pallet, before being resold to secondhand bookstores, donated to libraries and schools, etc. If it hits bestseller status within the first few days you know someone's janked the ratings.

Hell, I think with preorders, they can now do this more efficiently, and the first printing of the book can have "New York Times Bestseller" on the cover. Then whoever it was just cancels the preorder.

As someone who has followed him for a long time, one thing you will never hear from him is an apology or admittance of guilt.

I am not US lawyer, so this is rambling nonsense potentially but i highly doubt a successful defamation case could be brought in this situation. I would image that Kurt lawyer could make a couple of arguments, of various strengths.

I think this would be a civil matter...

1) Kid is public figure - To quote movie..."Bold strategy Cotton". I think this would be laugh out of court and would potentially poison judge/jury against Kurt. So I doubt it would be used.

2) Claim that Kurt statements are so insane...so out of touch with reality, that it is protected speech. My understanding is the US Supreme Court say statements that are so ridiculous to be clearly not true are protected from libel claims to protect comedians and what not I think. Effectively Kurt lawyer claims Kurt is playing character and no reasonable person would or should fall for obvious humor. I think he would have decent shot with this depending on quality of lawyer and money spent.

Given his current behavior, I think a good lawyer could lay ground work that Kurt is an Andy Kaufman style humorist.

3) What damages did Kurt do? His argument that is there is no financial damages to kid. So the court cannot fix issue with money. Like many situations people think they can sue but unless they can show the court can correct the issue with money, the court will not follow through. This I feel is weakest portion of potential liable lawsuit. Kid would have to show that idiot Kurt has financially hurt him in some way that is measurable. One cannot just go with emotional pain or whatever....one has to work the way up to that.

You wish to sue me over something, you need to prove that I knowingly, with responsibility, did or failed to do something that caused you personal damage, that can be corrected by the court.

It is good for Kurt this is not Europe. He would easily be facing not only civil litigation (the laws favor person suing much more in EU in slander/libel cases) but also criminal litigation.

Again, I am not US lawyer. My legal experience is extremely limited and should not be taken at any value.

Sad thing is is that the Left, Right and Center would help fund it. Everyone is talking about Kurt's stupidity. It would get funded in a month at the very least. Hell, Kurt being a supposed Jew would even get Alt and Far spectrum people to fund it.
