Okay- the adblock issue with Mike Michaud and Lupa:
I'm pretty sure Lupa and Phelous weren't the reason people put up Adblock. I had Adblock up the entire time I was watching TGWTG and tons of people were using it. The only ones who didn't were the hardcore fans who kept adblock off because they wanted the producers to make money off of it. This is why Linkara made that video whining and bitching about it and why Nash kept making those passive aggressive comments in his videos about people watching his stuff with Adblock on.

Around the time James had his kid he made an announcement that he was cutting back on making AVGN videos and why. You know, I think there was a way to salvage that part of the script. Instead of having Film Brain assume they're having sex, have him just be confused as to whats going on. Doug walks up asking what's the holdup and he's the one to come to the conclusion that they're banging, chiding Film Brain for his "lack of experience". If you take that approach, the joke is no longer implied rape, but how stupid the Nostalgia Critic is, with Film Brain there to act as a straight man to the situation.

See, the way I always saw it was that every one of the "characters" in the "Channel Awesome lore" was woefully stupid and had varying levels of success pretending they weren't among them.

It's still a stupid fucking joke, but shocking I know, I chalk that up to Lindsay Ellis being the fucking doormat that she's always been and taking offense because she has to rather than because she wants to.
