TGWTG "Nostalgia Critic" / Doug Walker, Rob Walker, Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, Holly Christine Brown, et al - The Incompetent Predator-Protecting Upper Management of Channel Awesome, Doug Still Not That Funny

Frederick is the main reason my gf is now following chris chan
Frederick is the reason that my sister likes these weird shenanigans on the internet in the first place.
off topic but I still love the neopets video especially the "day of sin" part.

On topic however, I'm curious as to what the people at Cinemassacre, Black Nerd, and other guests have to say about this. Maybe they don't because they were treated like, well, guests.

I remember long ago Spoony once had an incident where a group of fans he didn't know showed up at his house, and he then later made an angry post telling his fans that they're not his friends and they're not welcomed in his home.

Does anybody have a link to this? (Not holding out hope though, a bunch of links on Spoony's old page are broken because the videos are no longer hosted)

James Rolfe doesn't participate in social media or drama. Black Nerd might say something.

Have you see his landwhale of a wife? She better be loaded.
I don't know, dude. Guys like Doug tend to be fine with dating landwhales as long as they are into nerdy stuff. The problem with Doug's type of internet fame is while it may be possible to land him a decent looking girlfriend, they will inevitably leave him because he's a delusional man child.

If he's lucky, he could find someone who wants to leech off his popularity to kick-start their own channel, kinda like how Anna Akana dated Ray William Johnson to leech off his popularity and get him to fund her shitty web-series, only to dump him a few months later.

In all honesty, if his intention was to have a permanent wife, I think he made the right choice. It was either a landwhale, or change, which we all know for Doug is not an option.

If Doug Walker decided to grow up mentally, lose the ego, and become more self aware, he could probably expand into other types of content. The problem is, Doug is just getting too old for any sort of change. His sense of humor, along with his perception of how the internet works, is just stuck in the mid-2000's. Once you reach 30, you have more or less become the person you're going to be until you die.

James is extremely smart in that regard. Hell, he's even kept a lot of his personal life out of the public eye. He strikes me as the type who knows to keep professional and personal life as separate as possible, even when he could have used his popularity for his own personal gain/benefit (i.e. his daughter's medical care; they went with the Shriners instead of crowdfunding her initial medical bills). Being a first-time father tends to put a lot into perspective for some people, after all.

Black Nerd is too busy doing the Critical Role ripoff with Power Rangers on Twitch, so who knows if he'll say anything.

That doesn't answer my question as to if there is any proof to the rumor.

Somewhere further in the pages of snowballing autism of this thread, someone said she was working for an organization for special needs children so we can at least assume that due to living in Gib happy Chicago we can at least assume that he has a very comfortable cushion to fall back on once his internet career implodes as I assume he hasn't been using his internet money to fund a 401k, savings, mutual funds, precious metals, crytpo currency, or well anything to make sure he has a nice safety blanket.

Problem with Doug getting married is that he's basically nothing at this point, Michaud owns his characters. If Doug was to make a clean break from CA, with a new personality, new costume, and new name, there's still a chance that Michaud would sue him or some other bullshit (basically a trade dress lawsuit, there was actually a lawsuit that went all the way to the Supreme Court about two similar taco restaurant chains in Texas). So unless his wife is as loaded with money as she is with food, Doug's fucked as far as getting away from the trainwreck that is CA. On the outside chance he could cameo in a few RLM episodes, he's going to have start working a 9 to 5 job unless he can game the system for autismbux.

I imagine there's no way we'll have a definitive answer on this. A lot of people get married for security reasons that have nothing to do with money. The main reason I'd question the rumor is I'd like to know where the source got their info. Was Doug Walker going around calling his marriage a sham? I think it is more likely that someone saw that his wife is heavy, probably did some rudimentary research on her occupation, and then put together the "kept husband" narrative. I know, I know. Rate me optimistic.

I'm reading the Google Doc of the allegations ("Not So Awesome") but whoever uploaded it has tried their hardest to prevent copying/pasting material or saving it as a PDF. Does anyone have an archive of it?

I'm going to bestow upon you an ancient secret. Don't tell anyone, okay?

If you bring the website up on a computer, you can do a "save as" on the webpage via your file menu and store it right on your hard drive. And since the archive is local, you can access it without internet.

Is there any truth to Doug marrying for the money, or is that just an internet rumor?

He married her so you don't have to.
