DarksydePhil / TheyCallMeDSP / Phil Burnell - General Discussion

Status
Not open for further replies.
There are a few good reasons why Phil had to end the stream:

  • Afraid deep down that he is incapable of entertaining a general audience of 2000.
  • Afraid that Twitch mods will be scrutinizing him and he has more opportunity to break the rules and get suspended.
But I'm ready to believe a far more important reason: Kat promised that he could put it inside her for a few minutes because it's his birthday, but only if he took her out to dinner.

People asked for it, since this is a 'special occasion' I'll show the Twitch income for this 6 days of birthday it's not a celebration week. Oh yes, didn't you know this is not a celebration? Despite stating it was a "celebration of my birthday event" (sneaky weasel wording here) in the schedule, on March 29th DSP replied to a tweet calling him out as arrogant for celebrating his birthday for a week.

You'll recall DSP repeatedly said it was a celebration on prestreams through the week, so which was the lie?

Onto the income... the saddest thing is DSP got his biggest tips early in the week: $100 on Monday & $150 on Tuesday, both during Far Cry 5 streams. The biggest tip during the birthday itself was $50, late in the recorded Ultra Street Fighter II prestream. It's a good thing he reset the top tip, largest tip during PUBG was 'only' $30.
Before the birthday itself, I would say this was a slow 5 days of income, only the $100 & $150 tips really pushing it up. Cheers were abnormally low, subs were maybe average.
For the birthday cheering was about average for a main plus late night stream, but for a PUBG late stream not even getting $50 in cheers is low. Both streams got 11 shared subs each so 22 total, but somehow DSP is still haemorrhaging subs. He started at 419 before USF2, got up to ~425, then tanked to 418 DURING USF2. He started PUBG at 418 & climbed to 425 by the end of the stream, checking the decapi web link shows 425 now BUT DSP subtracts three so it's actually already down to 422.

The important numbers. First, Ultra Street Fighter II:
DSP claimed $260.11 towards $2K tips goal, but likely meant $262.11, $19 extra.
Twitch income total: Subs ~$27.50 & cheers ~$82.08 & tips ~$243.11 = ~$352.69
Twitch income total to this point: Subs ~$188.50 & cheers ~$343.08 & tips ~$598.11 = ~$1129.69
And PUBG:
$10 cheerleader by rinkdude, largest tip was $30. DSP tips total started at $268.
So $7.89 tipped between streams. Ends at $422 of $2K tips goal, $24 extra this stream.

Twitch income total: Subs ~$27.50 & cheers ~$48.62 & tips ~$130 = ~$206.12

2x$10 cheerleaders, also 3 other $5+ cheers, >40% cheering. Largest tip was $50.
DSP claimed $260.11 towards $2K tips goal, but likely meant $262.11, $19 extra.

Alright so I’ll eat my crow. I thought he would hit about $1000 at least including an “anonymous” 1k tip. That didn’t happen but apparently he got a last minute $100 tip. Did anyone see that happen on screen or did he just claim to get it?
No there was no $100 tip, DSP just got a bunch of tips during the final match (before the Cryaotic raid began it seems) from people using regular names. He pulled his usual 'stream ending soon, this is your last chance to get shoutouts from cheers subs & tips' shtick (he even pulled this on Thursday night for the last 15 minutes or so of Ni no Kuni 2...). I saw 6 tips in under 15 minutes totalling $80, over 60% of the visible tips during PUBG, about 20% of the visible tipping all day.
[20:52:3?] $30 Mawliwan "Happy Birthday Phil!"

I wonder if he will even try to spin things now like he did well. Maybe he will realize if his few fans left didnt even come close to breaking their banks on a week long stream and def didnt do much on his actual birthday maybe he will try a new approach and stop with the constant begging

This is true. If he truly considered this a business he would get some help though.
don't get phil wrong, he thinks of his buisness as a buisness truly
but he's one of those buisness owners you see on a hotel/resturant/whatever rescue show that blames the customers/society/whatever for their failures all the while insulting the host with shit like "IM REAL I KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO WORK THIS BUSINESS.. HES ALL TALK AND HYPE" and shit like that

if phil hired someone to help him, he would either:
1. flip his shit after the first bit of constructive criticism, insult the coach, then rant online how the guy was a detractor
2. partially pay attention and half-ass his advice, then kick him out, and when it doesn't work rant online how the guy was a booksmart idiot
3. promise to follow his advice and when he doesn't get a big boost instantly, kick him out, and rant online how the guy was a waste of money

You guys have got it all wrong. Phil is a member of the Professional Video Game Streamers Union and if he streams outside of his scheduled times or doesn't take his mandatory breaks there are heavy fines and he could be kicked out of the union. Its not his fault. Nothing he could do.
i'm picturing phil calling kat and asking her to "tell mr. burnell that i wont be coming to work today, i'm sick", then kat rolls her eyes leaves the room and comes back "mr. burnell, phil called and said he wont be coming in today." then phil sits up and does a stupid voice "well uh.. tell phil he has no more sick days.. he better get here or his ass is on the line arf arf arf"

Hypocrite thy name is DSP.

phil is the kind of guy who would say X and then say "I didn't say X" in two consecutive sentences

It will be some kind of illness next, you need to pay for mah healthcare, or i can't give you any more quality khantent.

Whenever he begs or rants about taxes people should just say in the chat "Some things are more important than money, real talk."

If only there was a voice clip of him saying it, it would become the newest and greatest meme for hundreds of detractor videos. People are still gonna spam that shit in chat and get banned. It'll end up on the banned phrases list in a few weeks.

I recall back in the day when people remixed voice clips of good 'ol Ghost from True Capitalist Radio (RIP you glorious capitalistic bastard!) to set him off on Radio Grafitti. Given how much Phil vocal content we surely have access to, it woudn't be hard to splice something like that together.

And yeah, it wouldn't be authentic, but it sure as hell would annoy the fuck out of Phil. Most likely it would encourage him to avoid using words like "taxes" and "I need money" specifically so splicers couldn't use more recent voice clips for their trade. That would be truly a spectacle - Phil trying to beg without using any direct words to reference his problems, so he has to stumble around clumsy metaphors and the like to get his meaning across.

Um, It's hard work to babysit these 50 3-minute long videos, okay? I'm working my butt off even on my day off, *Snooooooooooooooooort*

Nothing he could do, dood...it's not like there's a option to schedule videos to go online or anything in a certain date, so he can just upload them unlisted, come from the Fun Center, see his dumb face begging money and changing the video to public, nothing he could do

Gonna throw in my 2 cents, I think the reason he shut shit down last night was fear. He knew he couldn't pull all the tax shit with a brand new audience. He'd be there crying about losing his house and needing X amount to keep it. Someone at least from Crys stream would've called his bullshit publicly. Keep in mind a lot of streamers attract a lot of people as fans. I've seen Lawyers, Chefs, Firefighters, Police, Musicians etc fans of certain streamers. All it would take is 1 person who hasn't drunk the kool-aid and knows what they're talking about to call his shit and his whole scam is fucked.

He knew this, he knows his dedicated fan base is mostly children and the mentally deficient and knew it wouldn't work on a different streamers audience. A lot of people won't just take his word as law. They're called normal people.

That and he knows he's not entertaining to watch. That reputation spreading on Twitch would kill him faster than he's killing himself. He didn't even consider playing 1 more match, and there's no way the thought didn't cross his mind. He was looking at chat when they were spamming "1 more".
