I'm reading Iron Liz's contribution and holy fucking shit. The last anniversary movie was a massive shit show when it comes to organization or respecting the workers. Every other production, even a student film, wouldn't make these kinds of mistakes. Not even a Tommy Wiseau or Vitaliy Versace or Neal Breen or even Troma pictures would fuck up this bad. If you are paying people next to nothing then you at the very least make sure they are fed and have access to water and the essentials.

How they had PA people stay on board is just insane to me. Troma would routinely have people walk out because they hired people off the street who didn't know what they were doing. Also, Troma would fuck people over when it came to getting paid. But the CA people are somehow worse than Troma.

Edit: one other thing. Troma has insurance on their productions.

Think about this: Channel Awesome is worse than the company that put out such classics as Demented Death Farm Massacre and Bride of Killer Nerd. Troma is considered the absolute bottom of the barrel in the film industry. A friend of mine who cast Lloyd in a movie of his warned me not to work on Poultrygeist because "Troma is seen as being worse than porn" on a resume.

See, Killer Condom is based on the work of a german cartoonist/comic author and artist who is gay and does comics about the gay community in germany since the eighties. And I am not talking about SJW bullshit. I am talking about a guy who actually knows his shit and has a rather middle ground opinion about the community, heterosexuals and so on. He has done a shitton of graphic novels since the eighties and Killer Condom or "Kondom des Grauens" as it is called in germany, was a two part graphic novel with the movie combining the two things. The story was ridiculous as fuck even in comic form (like, there is an assassin who looks like a human, but is actually like a shapeshifting tentacle monster send out to kill gay people through Xenomorph like acid) , is the purest trash but one of the most entertaining things I ever saw.

Guy has also done a lot of other graphic novels, including one inspired by the works of Shakespeare, where it tells the story of an actor in Shakespeares theater group in the 16. century comminting murders because three witches foretold him he is going to become the greatest news in London if he gets the part of something they refered to as "Jago". It puts a bit of a smile on my face that you guys got at least to get a glimps in the guys work

I know. And it is Iago. (or Jago as it is writen in many german versions)
I tried to give a summary of the plot that was meant to only give the main idea of the comic. That it was basically a crime story and shakespearean drama, with the meta aspect of it being that it surrounds the actors of Shakespeare. Othello is in context of this story a new play, revealed halfway through the plot to be something Shakespeare is working on currently and the main character (a guy by the name of Guy Phillips) who always wanted to be a big stage actor, after being foretold he will be the talk of London if he gets the role of "Iago" (he is told the name in the beginning of the story, but only after he learns of Shakespeare's play he manages to put two and two together) tries everything to get the part. And I mean everything. From murder to sex.
The comic btw is a great read, gay sex jokes here and there aside. Many references to shakespearean plays in form of play quotes and the way how the story is told follows the structure of certain plays/stage dramas. Based on that, you can assume that there is a pretty dark twist regarding Phillip's fate on the end. A Twist that is actually hinted on very early on and is something I highly enjoyed. If there is an english print, I fully recommend this.

Both parts of Killer Condom have been translated into English. Killer Condom got a translation in 1991, with a reprint in 2009, while Down to the Bone got a translation in 2011.

Nah, they had more money than you think. I want to say in the $20K range for the anniversary videos (aside from the last one that was a series of short films). And I want to say that was after the cost of airfare. I'd ballpark the budget to be somewhere around $10-20K.

And before someone chimes in "20 thousand dollars is nothing. You can't make anything good with that!" I answer with:

I've compared Tommy Wiseau to Doug as well, but the there's one distinct difference between the two of them that I don't think enough people acknowledge. Tommy, despite his extreme ego and lack of artistic talent, has always been a great businessman. Unlike Doug, he actually compensated his actors and he did it with money that he earned from years of successful entrepreneurship. When the reviews came in for his magnum opus, he let his ego and pride get the better of him for but a brief moment before he decided to roll with the punches and make mint from of the fanbase he had accidentally created.

Doug lacks the business savvy that enables Tommy to thrive in the face of defeat. It's not like his material is even memorable enough for him to spin into a positive like The Room, because his videos aren't bad in an amusing way. A poor drama is a comedy; a poor comedy is just depressing and quite honestly, I think that's one of the saddest things about Doug Walker as a comedian: Tommy Wiseau is a better entertainer and comedy writer on accident than Doug is when he's trying his best.
