Never mind mom's n-rage, the kid is showing signs of it too. (Assuming of course, mom isn't putting her words in the kid's mouth.) The kid knows that the key to mom's affections is to act like a girl, so that becomes a false self to protect himself from his mother.

One of the lessons you are supposed to teach kids about their bodies is that private parts are not bad or wrong, just private. Telling strangers all about your kids privates for internet attention is sending mixed messages. What really squicks me out is the way the mom is clearly experiencing cognitive dissonance about girls vs penis ownership, but she has so little self awareness that she doesn't recognize it at all, instead she tells the entire world about it like she accomplished something. She isn't thinking about the kid finding this online later and having feelings about it either. Moms have to wash their naked kids and explain embarrassing things about their bodies, that doesn't strike me as too weird, it's the context of internet overshare that is worrying to me.

After reading this, I really do think there is some weight behind the idea of people forcing their gay sons to be trans because of homophobia. A lot of the effeminate/flamboyant gays (especially in theatre) that I grew up with wore things like tutus and kid makeup when they were younger, yet they never said they were a girl, just gay. I'm curious if this trans movement had occurred much later than it had, if that effect wouldn't have been there.

Edit: For instance, if the trans movement had happened before the lgb movement, what would have happened? Not like this line of thought will go somewhere, but it's something I've wondered about.

Let's not forget that sterility is a known side effect of HRT and puberty blockers. I see it as borderline eugenics against gay people.

I agree. A lot of it is coming from a homophobic point of view. Hope they don't get their genitals cut up to get their "parents" pity points. I won't blame these kids if they don't talk to their parents once they come to age.
