You did a lazy WHOIS lookup for the domain and saw it was registered to a Dreamhost private client, exactly like kiwifarms.net was, but we are not hosted by Dreamhost. The registrar and the host are not the same.

The nameservers point to Linode, but nameservers are not always the host either.

Name Server: NS1.LINODE.COM
Name Server: NS2.LINODE.COM

So then, you do an 'A' record lookup using those DNS servers to resolve the ip.

Now you consult the IP assignment directory to figure out who owns that IP.

Linode does host it, but in this fun journey of exploration we've found out that the reverse DNS for the IP points to this "veekun.com" website. Sometimes, people renting IPs from big companies like Linode do a reverse DNS assignment. In the same way veekun.com translates to 173.255.210.122, 173.255.210.122 translates to rankurusu.veekun.com in the DNS lookups.

The person who runs https://veekun.com/ ( https://archive.is/1oXvL ) also operates Floraverse's website. Linode probably won't cancel their hosting, but Veekun might.

For kicks, we can whois veekun. I have, and it has no details. veekun.com was registered in 2005 and thus is lacking WHOIS contact information. This is against ICANN (the owner of .COM and all .COM websites)'s policy, which came about only recently. I'll report it to ICANN for lacking WHOIS information, which should get their attention. If you want to peer down the veekun website's rabbit hole, go ahead, but don't file abuse reports if you don't know what you're doing. That's stupid and it waste working professional's time on issues which may not even be theirs to resolve.

Edit: Here's the receipt for the report. Doubling up reports does not expedite the issue. It only needs to be raised once.

You raise a point there but I don’t have much issues believing that they just don’t want to talk about it out of shock. Ideally this is what would would happen, but you have to remember that for a lot of these artists severing ties, their social media presence is their brand. Should they be using that presence to spread the word? Sure. Can they be expected to? Not really, because then it would require them to admit they had associated with these people. Not a good look for potential employers, even if you're decrying them now. I'm not surprised in the least that people are cutting ties without giving explicit reasons in the announcements and scrubbing their interactions with Glip and co. It might mean they're more concerned with image than the victims, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it means they're still actively supporting the trio in private.

Plus, like I said last time: when has Glip ever been graceful about people cutting ties? I can't imagine she'd be able to swallow her pride enough to let people end their support in such a public manner, even if she knew it was better for their reputation. It would also mean that if/when she did come back, they'd all have to justify coming back to support her too. Making vague posts about cutting ties with a dogfucker is a good career move. Saying down the line that you were just kidding is not.

Part of it is because, to a young teen, nothing is worse than having your legacy no longer exist, becoming a nobody, and knowing you literally cannot be remembered any more. They don't realize that it actually leads to a clean slate instead.
