TGWTG "Nostalgia Critic" / Doug Walker, Rob Walker, Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, Holly Christine Brown, et al - The Incompetent Predator-Protecting Upper Management of Channel Awesome, Doug Still Not That Funny

tbh withdrawing sponsorship over people moaning about mismanagement, not taking sides in GG, and an anonymous person claiming to have been groomed despite being over 18, is a bit much
Is not just "mismanagement". For what the insider's document said, it was more like shitty labour conditions, lack of clear contractual responsibilities and that one manager who wanted to rape the community manager. Disregard Lindsey because she's a crying bitch but for me, menacing someone with kicking him off because of a 15 minute delay on a Skype chat is a bit abusive. Remember, these guys were there because they were fans, not looking to make shitloads of cash.

Also they are the big baddie of the month. If I were a sponsor and saw all those defamatory videos, I would run from them like they have the pest too.

tbh withdrawing sponsorship over people moaning about mismanagement

You have to be skeptical of what's being told to you by these contributors of course. But if they are telling the truth, this stuff isn't good in any way, shape or form. It's more then just "people moaning about mismanagement". You have the higher ups not caring about the well being of their employees, making them perform dangerous stunts for films, overworking them, not paying them adequately, firing people over the stupidest of shit, harassment of employees, sexual harassment of employees, trying to make money off of a former employee's death and just simply creating a hostile work environment.

not taking sides in GG

Lindsay's GG shit was stupid, but that was just one person saying it and it wasn't the main focus of the document. The Tuxedo rental company is ending their partnership with Doug over GG, their ending over all the other allegations that CA refuses actually talk about.

an anonymous person claiming to have been groomed despite being over 18

It doesn't matter that this one person was 18. What matters is that there was allegedly a sexual predator who was taking advantage of the fans at CA, and management took their sweet time handling it after being told about it.

The very first sentence:

Since the posting of the “Not So Awesome” document on Monday, April 2, 2018, we have been exploring all of our options of how to address the lies that have been alleged by multiple disgruntled individuals with vindictive intentions.

...hoo boy.

Meanwhile, people in the comments section aren't buying it (keep in mind, these people have been watching content from Channel Autism contributors, both current and former, for potentially a decade now):

Jesus Christ, Michaud hitting the sauce tonight?

EDIT: Also, I love how it's all women Post-TBF.
ACCUSATION – A few content partners alleged a misogynistic work atmosphere by Channel Awesome.

FACT – Channel Awesome’s current and former female staff, including Tamara Chambers, Rachel Tietz, Aiyanna Wade, and Heather Reusz, have had vastly different experiences than the ones described. We are always trying to improve ourselves both personally and professionally and moving forward we will implement mandatory sensitivity training for all staff to ensure we maintain a culture of respect for all employees.

It's fairly telling that the primary targets of ire in this response are all female (Lindsay Ellis, Holly Brown, Allison Pregler).

I also find it interesting that the first two responses deal with ex-contributors who sexually harassed individuals, and Channel Awesome did not say anything expressing regret over giving those individuals a wider platform or advise they would make attempts to better vet individuals before adding them to the site.

They're furious. You can feel the anger seething through that post.

This was the most interesting part to me:

ACCUSATION – Holly Brown alleges CEO Michael Michaud, is sole owner of the Nostalgia Critic IP.

FACT – The IP is owned by Channel Awesome, Inc. The partnership is owned by four individuals with a 5th person joining ownership by the end of the year.

The first part seems like obfuscation. Michaud is the majority shareholder in Channel Awesome, Inc. so he effectively owns it by extension.

More importantly: They're bringing on someone else. I wonder who it could be - or if the site will last enough to see them in.

E: Holly Brown posted chat logs contradicting the claim that she resigned:

It's also worth noting Doug posted a link to CA's response on his personal 'Doug Walker" Facebook Page. Even if Doug is not the primary actor in most of the mudslinging, it seems fairly apparent he is sticking by Michaud.

Ironically, the post below it requests donating to "The Center for Victims of Torture" - I wonder if former contributors can request funding from this to supplement their medicaid

I don't know if it's already been discussed, but in checking Twitter I found this recording of Doug being asked about the debacle at Empire State Comic-Con, to which he says he "can't talk about it right now... just right now."

Rumour mill is that his reply and now the first sentence in the written response ("we have been exploring all of our options of how to address the lies") imply they've hired a lawyer to take legal action against the ex-producers and have been instructed to not talk about it.

That'd be a fucking shitshow, and one I'd love to see. The ex-producers could no doubt crowdfund their legal expenses.

What an incredible dumb fuck to sell his character to a bald autistic guy.

The shit show would be glorious if they sued their ex-producers.
