I feel the same way. In the effort to appear unique, the joke is that much of this art ends up looking the same. I can't tell the vast majority of these "artists" apart. It's such a waste of potential in some cases. You can't even tell them that their designs are ugly as fuck, they take it as a compliment.

I remembered this came about when the whole 'Brigitte has the same face as Mercy/other female characters' discourse came about. While I'd would like more ''ugly'' and not conventionally pretty characters in the game (Moira is one of them) you can still tell the characters apart. They all have different noses, eye shapes, faces and hair.

What boggles my mind the most however, is OP covering Symmetra's neck in the bottom version. Like, are necks the new ankles? Are they deemed too sexual these days? Fucking wild.

Widowmaker is now actually dead! Hanzo is already a caricature, you didn't needed to add stronger facial features... Also, you can tell they hate Mercy. Tumblr hates Mercy for being a white german speaking woman.
These people keep forgetting cartoonist style shouldn't have much details. Else it becomes a caricature, and that's bad if you want that sweet representation.

I don't get why people on Tumblr think it's necessary to near constantly feminize everything they see.

I have a male character with comically large hips, named Salvador. His thing is that he constantly tries to make his masculine qualities come out more, even if he's got a ass like a Brick House. But on Tumblr, everyone kept making the assumption he was trans. (I got so fed up I deleted my original account.) So to me, seeing this shit is a definitive "why" from me. Like, why are they purposefully making themselves so damn feminine? Is there a canon reason why? Why even make them male in the first place? Ugh, this website makes my head spin.

The style was ugly but it was ugly for a reason. It has actual artistic merit. The style itself sets the tone of their universes.
