Artcow Michael John Kricfalusi / John Kricfalusi / John K. / John K. Stuff / Raymond Spum - scammer animator who pissed away his own career, salty blogger, CONFIRMED predator and child rapist

I'm kinda pissed-- there's these guys making a documentary about Ren and Stimpy that I (was) pretty excited about, because it looked really good. They've done just about everything -- interviews with the original Spumco crew, the producers, Vanessa Coffey, Weird Al, Billy West, they've got all these photos and stories and art and etc...

Now apparently they've interviewed Robyn Byrd and she's gonna be in it too. I'm not saying she doesn't need to be heard, I'm just not even gonna watch it now because it's tainted. Even with John K. stuff being out, they could've done without that because now this documentary is gonna be part of some movement.

Maybe I'm being a little pessimistic and sperging here!

Didn't know folks were making a documentary about R&S.

I could understand why John K won't be in it. (His kiddy porn crap)

Also, Robyn appearing in this doc would be interesting to watch. I wanna know the ins and outs of her abuse with John K and rather or not he screwed with her hard. (No pun intended. )

I feel sorry for the girl and I hope if she's cool with commissions? I could donate money to her and her kids. Which may be grown up by now. But wanna help out on the whole thing.

We almost got a new R&S show. But John K was brutal in a bad way. We have to wait and see when it'll come out.

If they have the Games crew talking about what a shitty, shitty person John K. was and how they actively despise him in the documentary, perhaps with Robyn in it they're going to take a side. Nothing gets people to realize what an asshole someone is like pedophilia.

The last time John K. did a new R&S show, it tainted the property for good. Bob Camp tried to propose a movie as part of the Nicktoons reboots they're coming out with now, and one of the reasons they rejected it was that Adult Party Cartoon left its stink on the property.

Might be an interesting doc. given the people involved.

It wouldn't surprise me that Adult Party Cartoon nailed that coffin shut. That was the turning point for everything.

I find it a bit odd that they'd say no to a movie, because Nick still fully recognizes Ren and Stimpy as part of their property.

I've heard of a kind of loot crate sort of thing they have with vintage (ow my hip) Nick shows, R&S included. Last year Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America had a classic Nicktoons summer event and they had shirts and such with them as well.

It could just be a small nostalgia thing I suppose, but that still strikes me as odd when nostalgia trips are at an all time high for millennial (I've been seeing Reptar all over), they'd make a lot of money.

You would think, but I guess there's still some bad blood that needs to go away first.

Again, they could, but who knows why not.

I don't see the harm in interviewing her tbqh. Same with Katie Rice who was involved in Adult Party Cartoon if they want to interview her.

The problem is that Adult Party Cartoon exists and Nickelodeon doesn't want kids to google Ren & Stimpy and find shit like this:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7vj5v

I'm sure some kind of revival (however brief) was still on the table. There were rumors that a new Ren & Stimpy short would play before the 3rd Spongebob movie but that rumor was squashed. But now? Forget it. Who wants to make a revival where it was revealed that the creator was a pedophile?

Good point. Could you just imaging what the kids might say to their parents of what they just SAW? :tomgirl:

And that's the sad part about this.

They do merchandising for it, but they still don't want to bring it back.

Rumors, yes, but I'm not sure how true they are. John K. was supposed to do it, and that's why I question it.

(All things considered I think it'd be great to see Bob Camp do a Ren and Stimpy movie. Let someone who was more involved with the show try to bring it back.)

long time lurker, firsttime poster. i made this account for this reason.
i haven't seen it mentioned at all in this or any john k thread, but there is a cartoon created by Aaron Springer (did a few pilots for CN and Disney XD) who (and i might be off) i believe was working for spumco at the time, called "Baby's New Formula." If i remember correctly, it was his attempt to see how closely he could emulate the john k/terrytoons style. in this cartoon John K himself provides the voice of the father figure...anyway, someone brought up "pure john k" earlier in the thread, and i feel like this fits in the category. graphic content/probably NSFW, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19R33Uzpzas

Kricfalusi is an Idiot.png

So Kricfalusi confused Mowgli from Jungle Book with Hogarth Hues from Iron Giant. He can't even get the examples of his subject for criticisms right. He even continues using clips from Iron Giant in his examples. How could anybody be this inept?

I thought that shit was funny until the end.... Aaron Springer of SpongeBob. That's why I hold the belief that most (if not all) animators are deviants (but I don't feel negative about it).

Also John K. has claimed to hate his voice immensely, but I honestly believe he likes to voice characters so he can scream his insanity out.

I guess his mind was on other things, like the twelve-year-old neighbor girl.

I knew where it was going, and I kept watching anyway.

Avenues like "Spike & Mike" certainly encouraged it as well.

I'm sure he does. That's one talent nobody could do!

I knew where it was going, and I kept watching anyway.
That's what these things were made to do. The "Sick and Twisted" festivals were a proven fact!

It's the whole bitching about the Cal Arts style shit he was known for.

Still catching up to the thread, but I do have some comments on John K. and how a lot of previous posters are seriously overselling his worth to the industry.

He's a good animator true, but he was not critical for gross-out style humor to be a thing. That type of comedy would have come out by itself at any point during the '90s, with South Park likely being its originator animation wise rather than Ren and Stimpy. Hell, a good portion of the poor schmucks he hired for Spumco could've done it. The guys behind Rocko could've done it. The idea of gross-out humor is an easily fungible idea; low brow humor is just plain everywhere.

He also was not an iconoclast that revived animation which was a pile of shit at that point. He was a 30+ year old sadfag who just made less competent and graphically overblown and overemphasized Looney Tunes shit. He's permanently stuck in that 1937-1966 period given his style and nostalgia faggotry. Hell, I can tell you right now that the only style he seems to like (that isn't his own) are the likes of Jones, Avery, and as mentioned Clampett, which makes his Cal-Art criticism very fucking hypocritical IMO given he's clearly derivative himself. Yes, the Looney Toons are great, and sure, a good portion of animation in his period of success was made cheap and nasty. But it wasn't a wasteland of quality, and the modern times ain't either; he's just bitching he's not stuck in a Dieselpunk setting.

Honestly, John K. wasn't a visionary, he was little more than a lucky asshole. He was one of three animators that a new media corporation (that could have failed mind you) reached towards to fill in slots in a brand new schedule. He was effectively given his dream job and hit the ground floor of what would become a major channel. He also got lucky with his hires as well as a very forgiving atmosphere for his prima donna horseshit. And yes, that means I will happily call him the DSP of animation.

A very forgiving atmosphere... that fired him a season in because he was too much of a hassle to work with?

I try to remain as non-biased as possible but there are a few facts. Namely that John's art style did influence a generation, the success of Ren & Stimpy contributed to the success of creator-driven cartoons, and it absolutely did create a market for the gross and subversive on a mainstream level.

There was no other huge cartoon that was gross or subversive that was also massively successful at that time. Closest possible thing you can get is the Toxic Crusaders which was more of a TMNT-ripoff show and came and went (the back story as to why is interesting but that's another topic). I'm no John K. dick-rider but there's a very clear domino effect left by Ren & Stimpy's success.

I'm not saying John is a super genius animator and is a sacred cow. But facts are facts. Of course, this doesn't change the fact that he's a POS pedo whose' his own worst enemy.
