I tried to find some decent space in the fandom but you can't fucking breathe on twitter without being accused of being a Nazi by someone with a pool toy & feeder obsession.
Last time I tried interacting with the fandom I got accused of being a Nazi because I think gulags are bad. It's just fucked and tearing itself apart at this point.

Back in the day it may have been possible to find yourself a little niche in the furry fandom where you could enjoy yourself as you see fit and be comfortable.
Nowadays, that isn't really the case. No matter where you go in the fandom, there will invariably be some exceptional sperg, or several, kicking down that metaphorical door to burst in, making a fuss, kicking up dirt, as well as metaphorically (and sometimes literally) slinging shit around and just outright ruining the place.
In today's furry fandom, it's almost as if the community doesn't want you to be yourself and do what you like; you have to be hazed until you choose to be JUST. LIKE. THEM.

I felt bad for their being the whipping boys of the Internet and the bottom of the geek hierarchy, but that was tempered by the fact that they brought a lot of it on themselves in announcing their every secret desire and strange fetish publicly online, and really to anyone and everyone. A little discretion would have saved them a lot of grief.
And speaking of. How exactly has Xydexx gone thru life without some sort of consequences or repercussions from his being like this? You’d think he’s at least once have lost a job opportunity or something with being so open about his crazy.

It's interesting that a lot of the problems with 90s furry have come back (though they never really went away). The insular, thin-skinned behavior and the boundary issues were common themes on Portal Of Evil/Something Awful posts about the fandom a decade ago.
If his employer even knows, they wouldn't care. They're probably just satisfied he doesn't have any kind of criminal record and he likely doesn't even mention this stuff at company picnics. Which is as it should be, quite frankly.
