Boogie / Boogie2988 / "Francis" / Steven Jason Williams - Fat, Rapidly Declining Divorced "Nice Guy" Middle-Aged Youtuber, Former Edgy Porn Blogger, lied about having cancer and being molested. Cohost of fake drama show "Lolcow Live (LCL)". Just WILL NOT die.

>"Defranco says the youtube evil bots are not recomending my videos anymore! I keep hearing people say it's cause oh people are bored of you, they're bored of your formula they don't like your content, but that cant be right! I made this video to defend him!"

lol i love/hate how Boogie completely discards the possibility that HE is the problem. His content was always zero effort garbage. He got a internet notability from Francis but his channel started growing millions when he started making "drama news" videos like Keemstar, Scar and PhilyD except he is the worst of them. I legit cannot understand how anyone can look at his 4.4 million subs and say he deserves that.

But most of his videos barely reach 200k views. Fuck, it's so bad he is reuploading his own worst videos to see if helps. Could it be because nobody wants to wach some fat passive agressive fuck whine for 10 minutes? No. It's the bots. They're the ones who are killing his channel.

He actually stopped doing drama videos the same month he started. DeFranco doesn't do drama videos either.

I'm not sure why he'd complain about the algorythms screwing him. There was a time a short while ago when I had to keep constantly telling youtube I'm not interested in his videos. For some reason it equated a history of watching video game and fitness stuff with Boogie. The latter is especially perplexing. Seeing his face constantly pop up in my feeds and suggested video is the first thing about him that really started annoying me and driving me to dislike him, to be honest.

I think he did it for a few months around two years ago, where he made videos about Mathew Santoro, Fine Bros, H3H3, prank channels, etc. All unrelated trending drama that Boogie wanted to make money on. The only reason he stopped was because people were already labeling him as a "drama channel".

Since when lol, sure Philip might posts actual world news videos but he also posts a ton of useless e-celeb drama and twitter fights.

The early Francis videos have way more effort put in by comparison. Granted it's a very juvenile type of physical humour, but they have setups and punchlines and he's making some effort at acting in-character. He stopped putting in any effort at all around the same time it transitioned from "thing I do for fun occasionally" to "lucrative full-time job" which makes no fucking sense at all. In the newer ones he just changes shirts and sits at his desk; pretty much anyone who isn't totally exceptional could do it on the spot if you asked them "do an impression of a neckbeard who's mad about _____".

I still think most of his subscribers are just people who came for the "world's fattest man" exhibit, and never bothered unsubscribing because they're a more casual type of YouTube user who don't actually look at the subscription box. They probably typed "fat guy xbox rage" in the search bar in 2009 or something.
Francis is still low effort garbage though. It was just Boogie pretending to have a speech impediment and acting like a tard. It's not something that would be hard and relies on the fact that the viewers are probably 12. Of course Francis, like a lot of YouTube characters loses his appeal once you watch other videos and realize that he's not real.

That's why I said "by comparison". He put more effort into old Francis sketches (not very much) than new Francis sketches (literally none). Old Francis had other people playing roles, usually a setup and punchline, and it was physical humour so he had to stand up and do shit. New Francis he just puts on a blue shirt, turns the webcam on and says the opposite of what he thinks in a silly voice. It honestly seems like he's lost interest in doing the character because it's too hard, which makes no sense because he's more physically capable now than any other time in his adult life.

It doesn't help that he does everything with the subtlety of a brick to the face, which works fine when the whole joke is that he's fat and angry, but falls flat when he's trying to make it topical. He's turned Francis into a vessel for his opinions and that's the worst thing you can do with something that's supposed to be dumb fun.

Its just karma though Boogie. Loses all the weight still looks and feels like shit when it surfaced he mentally abused his wife, its almost like you are a bad person and even though you lose the weight it was the fact you were a malicous cunt that was the actual problem and the fact you made millions of pitybucks on being a fat fuck with depression

Yeah, old Francis sketches had way more effort (not saying much) and a stupid kind of humor to them, but at least they had any humor. It wasn't just that obnoxious shtick of using Francis to voice some kind of opinion that Boogie is too much of a coward to commit to openly.

He has become way more obnoxious in general, he sure had this "woe is me!" attitude with the sob stories stories about his abusive mother for a long time, but he managed to come accross as way more likeable in his older videos. Guess he also put more effort into acting his general persona back then, today he just can't be bothered anymore.

Apparently Boogie made an "offensive" tweet, deleted it and then bragged about how BRAVE he is for deleting it.

I'm not* joking anymore, Boogie has to be clinically insane at this point.

By a ton you mean one or two parts of a video for the week? He talks more about how Youtube runs things than anything else. When he talks about about Youtubers now it's because they fucked up or doing something clearly for attention such as the YT boxing fights which I haven't heard of since earlier this month. Hell, the reason why DeFranco is switching to his new site is because YT is demonetizing his videos because he reports on the news, not because he reports on YT drama.

Yes i know he makes multiple youtube rant videos per week, i'm tired of them. Anything he talks about Youtubers/streamers isn't "news", it's shit that he only says for easy views. I don't care if he is being demonetized, he should get a real job.

You know who else should get a real job outside youtube? Boogie. We should be talking about him instead, since it's HIS thread.

He mentions sponsors and advertising in the first twenty seconds of this video.

What is it with YouTubers thinking the viewers care about the meta of their channel? I've seen this with a couple different big YouTubers, they discuss audience interactions and channel growth and SEO in videos. No one cares about that shit. It would be like if I walked into a shop and the guy at the counter started telling me about the profit margins on the stuff I'm buying.

Partly is because the YouTuber community is super insular and a lot of creators think that because all the people they talk to care so does everyone. But a big part of it is that a huge chunk of YouTube's user base, particularly the ones that reach out and interact with creators want to be YouTubers themselves and are convinced they are gonna be stars any day now, so they love all the meta shit. Look at the uproar when Google changed the limits to how successful you had to be to be part of the advertising program. They raised it from like 10,000 lifetime views to 40,000 lifetime views and people acted like it was some fascist dictatorship.

Blame bots all you want, but the harsh truth is that while profoundly morbidly obese people are a rarity on YouTube, regular old fat ugly guys are a dime a dozen. They loved you for your lard and you deprived them of it.

Youtubers have this problem where they think they're entitled to growth and they're blind to the possibility of their channel shrinking because of the content they produce.

The AmazingAtheist, Daymdrops and Boogie embody this best. They fundamentally changed the type of content they produced, stopped being insanely clickbaity and ignored the criticisms of their fans and all of that lead to them losing fans. Instead of looking at their actions, they blamed YouTube.

I think the problem with Boogie is that his content is the same old shit every time and its gotten old. He doesn't take an argumentative stance on subjects which leads to his videos on issues of the day being meaningless and boring and ther than that, he's basically a vlogger with a boring life. Like the AmazingAtheist and Daym, Boogie has shifted away from clickbaity drama and weird skits to boring shit that his audience didn't come to see. He's acquired a new audience of anti-fat redditers but that niche group is all he has.

I think PewDiePie might have something to do with it. He got big from loud, fake-persona Let's Play shit, and since then he's made videos where he talked about how he was faking it for the views the whole time and shifted his content away from gaming just because he didn't like being fake. Maybe because he managed to do it with no major drop-off, and he's #1 on the platform, other YouTubers look at him as an example. They may be ignoring the fact that he could lose like 70% of his audience and still be well-paid, but still.

What the content creators need to realize, at least the top 10% or so that make a living from Youtube (but aren't pewdiepie level of popular) is that their "brand" isn't strong enough to survive without youtube's recommended algorithm and that like any small business owner you're not just in the business of pleasing your customers (or in this case viewers) but also having a sustainable business model. Hey guess what if rent rises or costs go up otherwise you deal with it as a business owner. There's no free lunch, even when "you're your own boss".

So if the algorithm changes and youtube is your job -- you change with the times or you perish.

As well noted, Boogie's content is stale. He hasn't evolved to the increased competition for views (ironically it's the success of people like boogie, otherwise marginalized and turning to youtube as a career, that hastened it) and he hasn't adapted to the higher stakes when you're committed to youtube as a career and have purchased things like a house on the back of it.

if he can't take the heat he should get the fuck out of the kitchen, but this is boogie we are talking about.

Not to mention, Pewdiepie feels more genuine and expresses strong opinions on certain topics in his channel while people like Boogie are fakes that try to take a neutral stance to appease both sides.
