Just watching Memology's second part of TIHYDP Dark Souls 3.
You know that meme where someone leaves the room, looks over the ocean to the horizon and just ... stares because he somehow needs to comprehend what just happened? This is how I feel right now.

DSP: "So much damage he (normal enemy) does. [...] Everything in the game. Yuselsusel initial enemies duun' insane damage. I'm not the old class I'm used to be so I can't tank it out I used to."

Tank it out. Used to. In Dark Souls. A game about avoiding. Tank it... tank it out. Used to. Sorry, I need to travel to the next beach. Used to.... tank.

Im not a huge fan of ContentID, but I think his complaints about it are ridiculous. In addition to the reasons other people have given I don't think it's realistic for him to call this a terrible business practice just because it negatively affects him. He acts like he expects there to be an exemption process in place where if you are putting video game on there your stuff won't get dinged. What if your video:
  • uses some other toober's video?
  • uses some other toober's voice?
  • uses non-game material like music or an entire movie in the corner?
this stuff probably shouldn't be exempted. YouTube would essentially need to through the insane amount of work needed to build a second ContentID library that doesn't include "gaming material" for him to get what he wants. He should contact his YouTube senator if he wants that.

He needs to get the idea out of his head that he is making content for youtube. Focus on streaming. that's where the money is.

Edit: From what Phil is saying in stream chat, he plans to mute the entire video whenever the score is playing, which is fucking stupid. Just play the game and take the L on your 20 bucks from 3000 parts. He'll probably just abandon the game.

Muting the score from God of War really, really cripples the experience. That would be cringe enough, but given that the story focuses on the father/son dynamic, Phil's bound to make awkward jokes during the emotional moments in the story. His knowledge of Norse mythology is most likely limited to the Marvel movies, so he'll miss another layer of enjoyment in the game. All this for the few pennies he'll make from YouTube.

If his fails mightily or he rage quits, I'll watch that after I finish the game. Wonder how many viewers he'll actually get for it today.

Phil currently talking about how he won't smoke weed or eat edibles. Actually he said "we" so I'm guessing Kat doesn't partake. He got baited into a youtube rant, yet again. Going on over an hour prestream once again.

Phil would probably start to question his life if he smoked weed, I'd love to see a DSP Tries It: LSD.

Phil couldn't handle the introspection involved in things like weed of MDMA. It forces you to face yourself and if you aren't satisfied with who you are or where you are in life you can have some pretty bad trips. Although it would be hilarious to see Phil ACTUALLY high (not faking like his "drunk" streams) I don't think he would be in a good place lol. Watching him freak out would be hilarious though. I'd donate for that patreon goal.

Dont ask my why, but I checked out, read dsp's youtube channel, and this is what I found under "about". The ending is pretty funnny #whyamitoxic

First of all grats to SoapQueen you are a great contributor here and your new position is well deserved.

Personally I view the content ID system in VIDEO GAMES as this; The companies put massive effort into composing a mix for the release to have it taken away and burnt when there are ways to obtain the OST fairly and easily. It is under the jurisdiction of the publisher or company how aggressive they wish to be in maintaining standards which they file with places like youtube. Considering 1000s of hours of talent is put in I can understand why especially when it comes to video games. Yes they are paid in a salary which is handled by actual sales but they too have a right to protect the titles identity.

This should be a screeching warning to Phil at why he should actually edit videos and why these other content users are getting money because they can edit it out and hense make money. Phil is just salty at him losing some dollars even though he will appear like 2 pages in.

Quick question on fair use.

Dave is doing playthroughs and because the work is transformative it's covered under fair use. If i were to download his videos and put them together into 1-2 hour long videos and post them on youtube, would they get copyright strikes?
