Can I say, it's sad this thread is 4 years old, and 6 pages long, god he's so, mundane!

lol people still talk about gamergate like wtf
Some people like Matty here and Briana Wu still bring it up because its what made them big, or """""""big""""""" in matt's case, as his diet is what really made him big, but I digress. They talk about it like it's still a thing because why change what worked years ago, ya know? Complacency is good!

I guess Blarbo is in a dispute (or was, apparently they streamed together, not sure if anything was hammered out) with Cognitive Thought, he snipped about 10 minutes from Matt's stream with Metokur (the interesting 10 minutes that everyone wanted to see, anyway), and Matt DMCA'd it off his channel, gave him a community strike.

Yeah technically (very technically) Matt is in the right but considering he gave people like Laci Green shit for doing this same thing.... well, you be the judge.

Cog is a relatively small youtuber compared to Jarbo, though considering how bad the stream made him look, I'm sure he would have done this to a larger channel if they had done the same thing.

If that were the case, surely he would have already done that with his crying video?

Cog's idea of what constitutes fair use is somewhat bizarre. He seems to believe that using methods to successfully avoid a content ID match automatically makes re-uploaded content fair use.

I think Cog assumed Matt wasn't a pussy who'd flag content, based on Matt's previous stance (Laci Green, Zoe Quinn) but being made a fool of may have affected his priorities.

Admittedly I'm not that familiar with Cognitive Thought, But Matt had already taken the stream down. Then put it back up, albeit with some sort of lame excuse of "oh I didn't realize the stream was still open when I closed it out" blah-de-blah-de-blah. Which, if Cog is to be believed, was the whole reason he clipped that bit from the original.

Metokur usually encourages people to mirror his stuff right? Honestly I'm not even really pointing it out to defend Cog, though, just pointing out Matt's sperging about "muh copyright, muh work". I seem to remember his getting DMCA'd himself and asking why they didn't ask him first. At least twice. So there's that.

Well then, that makes Cog's sperging as a direct result of his lack of understanding of what constitutes fair use even more hilarious considering that both situations are entirely different. Roaming Millenial and others at least made an attempt to produce transformative and original content. Cog, on the other hand, flipped the video every 28 seconds, speed it up, zoomed in and out, only attempting to avoid a content ID match so he could monetize somebody else's work.
