It doesn't even matter if it's a real concern or if it's FYAD concern trolling, it's dumb and fucked either way. Besides searching for stuff for this thread I stopped being active there. There was literally nothing of value for me. The last thing that had any value was the gaming forum, mostly because it isn't full of 14 year olds playing minecraft or roblox but the SJW thought policing made several threads unreadable there too and then I just stopped bothering even lurking.

There are a few corners on the internet where you can have all the same amount of information without all the circlejerk bullshit attached to it. Goons are often wrong about stuff anyways. The IT related threads are a good example for that. Some forums circlejerk establishes the One Objectively True Opinion and then any discussion is over, no matter how wrong it is. It's useless.

To the best of my knowledge there were memes before SA, but I can confidently say that the concept of a meme (dumb picture with dumb text on it, usually in Impact font) began on these accursed forums. Here's the story: Back in 2001 I wanted to try out what I called "image macros," which was basically vB code that would cause a certain image to appear, as opposed to typing out the entire image URL. So there would be vB code like :img-holyshit: that would cause a certain image to appear in place of that text. I almost instantly abandoned it after two weeks, because I got so fucking sick of seeing people post the same shit over and over that I had no choice to pull the plug, as it was collectively lowering the average IQ of the forums by 100 points or so.

So, as a tribute to SA kinda once again causing the entire internet to turn into a fucking hellhole, I present to you the original IMAGE MACROS that set shit off:

He's kinda right about 4 chan and memes as we know them. 4 Chan happened cause a bunch of the anime dorks got kicked out and moot pretty much made it so they would have a place to post dumb anime shit. Lots of the really early memes came from SA too, especially the whole format of silly picture with text on it. The ones that weren't SA were Fark for the most part.

Basically the dumb site actually was kind of the epicenter for a lot of the early 2000's internet stuff.
