You should've just become his friend by meeting him at Bronycon and being nice to him. Not give him $1200, come here and post weird videos of some voiceover, and then tell us about giving him $1200 despite the warnings on this site not to do such a thing.
I highly doubt anyone is going to hurt your family. You might get some weirdos adding you and/or family on Facebook, but I doubt anyone will do anything more than that. I really hope no one does even that.
