These are the kind of things you'd see in a fever dream, the ones where you have a temperature of 105 and you're on the verge of death.

Did the artist say All Might and Midoriya have vitiligo, or are they supposed to be dirty after some hot muddy action? I'm really hoping it's the former.

After seeing that I've officially changed my mind on bronies; they all need to die.

IIRC the artist had some issues with their publisher, pressure from fans and then they just sort of disappeared and they’re now working on another comic. It’s kind of a shame because while pretty Tumblr pleasing it was still nothing outright offensive like the tropes in this thread. HiNaBN was pretty average as far as web comics go but it was still a breath of fresh air and had some good build up to expand on.
I’m almost glad it ended so abruptly though. If it had started during peak Tumblr we’d be seeing art of gay trans boy Hanna and Asian caricature Zombie.
If I'm remembering it correctly, there wasn't publisher issues, but I think you're right on the part about pressure from the fans. The artist had dropped comic projects in the past before dropping Hanna, and I think they got overwhelmed with the popularity of Hanna. There were videos of HINaBN cosplay groups seeking out the artist at a con, sometimes even performing a song to them, and they just looked bothered. The newest comic project has been going on for two years or so, I think.

Just what Homestuck needed, a trans character.

I had to go check the blog that came from out of morbid curiosity, and

There's drawing a character in your own style and still making them recognizable, and then there's mangling them beyond any recognition, making them look like an OC rather than the real deal

The tired eye thing kind of reminds me of the art of a long dead web comic Hana is not a Boys name.

It was really big on Tumblr when it first started, and than got bigger when it stopped for reasons unknown. The art wasn't bad, but I do notice some similarities with Tumblr art. It's like they tried to recreate it and it got mutated with other things.

Ah fuck, I remember this rubbish.

I never got into it. Tumblr was obsessed with it.

One of my bigger problems with these pictures is the color schemes. They sort of remind me of a cartoon called The Problem Solverz, where it's like the artist ate a whole box of crayons and vomited all over the drawing. The "art" becomes a clusterfuck of bright & obnoxious colors that don't mix well, which makes an already shitty drawing even more of an eyesore.

I'm not asking for art that looks like the first Gears of War game, but this shit is like a nightmarish fever dream.

Some people like to call the style 'kidcore' because to them it feels like an aesthetic from childhood, made out of a daycare's limited marker selection and RAD NOSTALGIA. It is also a handy excuse not to learn how colors work, because "THIS IS ME, THESE COLORS FEEL THE WAY I FEEL". A lot of the people who are into it are those 14-year-olds and soft trans"boys" who claim they are more like a big child than an adult.

Kidcore's not limited to just the artstyle, it's an aesthetic. It involves plenty of photos of toys, 90s stationery, and other things that are attractive to kids. Naturally this kind of material also attracts DD/LG people, so people making kidcore posts usually make disclaimers not to REBLOG THIS IF YOU ARE INTO DD/LG OR YOU'RE A MAP

Not to exaggerate but this is most dog shit nuclear waste art I think I've ever come across in this thread. Who is the artist so I can find more of this shit.

Tumblr made me hate the term "aesthetic" to be hionest. It can be used to describe anything and lost any meaning.
And why they treat 90s as their childhood, people born in 2000 is now 18 years olds, those tumblr kids are 15.

"Zoinks!"

Even the Scooby Do gang's not safe

Not the worse. TBH the shading is pretty decent. It's clear they know how shading works minus Scooby who just looks fucking lazily drawn and shaded in. They chose nice colors for the dark-skinned character (even though Velma's not black). It looks generally okay.

My issues are that the artist needs to take off that ugly overlay layer. It just adds a layer of unnecessary muddiness to the picture. (Seriously, every Tumblr artist uses an ugly overlay layer. Why can't they stop?) The artist also needs to learn more about expressions because holy shit everyone is so cross-eyed. It doesn't look good. It looks very weird an unnerving.

Lastly, the red nose thing is starting to really get on my nerves. Unless you have some sort of issue going on with your body, you do not have THAT red of a nose. Even people I know with really pink skin in real life do not have noses that red. Does anyone know why so many people justify this in their work?

Yeah its not the worst. But its just sad seeing so many artists racebend characters like this.

And the overlay could be because so many of those art tips mention uaing an overlay for your drawings. But combine it with shitty color choices and equally shitty drawings and it creates a mess.

I guess, but it still boggles my mind that people have such shit color choices in a day and age in which tutorials literally give you the colors you need:

These are several tutorials I found here. They use Sai and Photoshop for the most part and it shows you can have appealing colors without using a shitty overlay layer. I can safely say this thread has given me an aversion to anything that has a crappy overlay. There is literally no excuse for your work to have such awful colors. It's one thing when you are young and learning, but when you're almost 30-something(Dobson) or are going to art school (Rory) you have no excuse.
