TGWTG "Nostalgia Critic" / Doug Walker, Rob Walker, Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, Holly Christine Brown, et al - The Incompetent Predator-Protecting Upper Management of Channel Awesome, Doug Still Not That Funny

ETA: Doug's assertion that the new one is a "dark, gritty adult version" is insanely dumb on so many levels, I can't comprehend it. Like holy shit, how can a PG rated movie from fucking Disney be the "adult version?" Plus it makes it sound like a Jungle Book porno.

Doug is saying that out of sarcasm to insult fans who love the remake more than the animated versions

For what it's worth, last I check it seemed like they were still being swarmed by spergs on Twitter demanding they say something, not that they seemed particularly interested in jumping into the fray just to do it.
What did they expect to happen? Malcolm and Tamara are too proud to do the smart thing--lock down social media accounts for the next few weeks and continue on CA without risking their careers and paychecks, and they really were never the main targets of #CtC anyway. Now, what will likely end up happening is a variation one of two things below.
1) Malcolm and Tamara kowtow and leave CA but look like massive douchebags doing so instead of just negotiating some sort of exit with them quietly.
2) Malcolm and Tamara give excuses but stay at CA, enraging the sperg army more who now demand their heads.
Of course, everything I've read about them makes me less and less sympathetic to them, so I'm open to either.

The latest video has an ok like/dislike bar in comparison to the previous two.
People are caring less and less as time goes on. If they don't release another response to the drama, the fire will go down on its own.

I think the JewWario reveal was brilliant in retrospect. Certainly not on purpose since everyone including themselves looked bad, but it turned the attention elsewhere.

He axed himself, so there is not much to talk about except coming to terms with the past.

With Malcolm and Tamara making a response video, things might heat up again. But while the heat may die down on Doug and Co., CA's contributors have pretty much all fled except for Brad and Larry, and no doubt their ad revenue (and other potential ways to make money, like the 10th anniversary special) have been decimated.

The fire may go down on its own, but the house of Doug Walker has already been burned nearly to the ground.

It will probably take them some time to acquire new sponsors. Even those that overlook the JewWario fallout will have to deal with people badgering them over their CA affiliation, which will probably be enough for them to pull their money and run. The timing of them losing their Black Tux sponsorship and the second response couldn't have been a coincidence.

It has gone through many fits and starts in the last few days, but today might be the first day since this started that the sub counts ends positive, sadly. So many sheep keep subscribing that it is more than offsetting whatever losses they are still suffering. Their average daily view count is down, but it isn't terribly substantial.

And Larry's only there for shits and giggles also. The firestorm might reignite somewhat if Michaud decides to get rid of Larry, because Michaud is a sped with zero idea of how PR and optics work.

Sorry if I've missed any confirmation by Doug whether he's still with CA, but. typically the Walkers put out a stream of conscious review video following every big "nerd movie," under the name Sibling Rivalry.
We should have a pretty definite answer this weekend on if they're still partnered with Channel Awesome if there is or isn't one for the new Avengers movie, since I'm sure they wouldn't miss out on those sweet YouTube views.

I love this

Not surprised cause when the tweet of it being filmed showed Malcolm smiling which wouldn't fit a response video to drama
Yeah, I wasn't shocked either. I believe she said her and Malcolm were going to do all the TMNT movies so we'll probably see a few of these coming up.

Depending on how awfully CA is run, they don't have the "time to acquire new sponsors". When things go south for a business, they either mostly subsist off of their savings or get a loan, and that's largely dependent on how they did on the past (an example would be Sears, which despite some truly awful management these days intent on running the company into the ground, is only getting this far because of the company's massive success in most of the 20th century). CA probably doesn't have any big investors who have part ownership and have been trying to grow the company to see a payoff, and I just can't imagine that CA has a lot of money that was saved up in the salad days of the early 2010s.
