Honestly, I know I'm going to sound stupid, but Anita, although, her videos add nothing new to the feminist world, does not deserve to be death-threated. I've watched most of her videos and even though I disagree with some of her viewpoints, does not warrant rape threats. (I know about the money issues, but I think I've seen worst wastes of money. Dashcon, Brony-island)
I've played Depression Quest and as someone who suffers from depression, it was OKAY. I do think that Ms. Quinn should step away from the spotlight for a while and her ex-boyfriend sounds like a Lolcow himself.
NOBODY, NO MATTER WHAT SIDE THEY'RE ON, NEED TO BE HARASSED. This whole Twitter thing just brings out the worst citizens of Internet.![]()
Pretty much this- and this is what is annoying me the most about this whole clusterfuck.
I don't agree with Anita on a lot of things. I don't agree with Quinn. And I especially am greatly disappointed in more than a few of those in game journalism for out and out verbally attacking people that aren't going to stand idly and let them play in their big ol' clubhouse and *gasp* expect them to act like journalists and show some integrity!
All the same: as much as I really can't stand a lot of these people right now. Death threats, threats of violence, threats of rape, etc. is completely unacceptable, irregardless of what side you're on in this thing. This extends to Youtube commenters being harrased over the phone, and 10-year-olds being doxxed and threatened with violence because they don't accept some SJW's point of view.
Not only does this make the people making these threats look like scum, but they're also ruining whatever respect we've garnered with people outside of the gaming sphere. Shit, we still have people trying to blame school shootings on games like Dark Souls (because that makes sense) because it's an easy target. Having assholes wishing death on groups of people because of fucking video games?
This isn't to say that videogames aren't important and aren't worth conversation - but fuck all, people. Do you really need to give the fucking talking heads over at Fox News and MSNBC more ammo against gaming as a whole?
