Another thing is that in order to maintain obesity you have to intake a LOT of food daily, so it's not like they can pretend like they eat healthy while at the same time being easily mistaken for a beached humpback whale.
Micheal Phelps used to eat not unlike fat people possibly more than most 700 pounders; lots of subway, energy drinks, pizza and pasta all adding up 12k calories a day, but he swims for 6 hours a day everyday since he was 7. Not including time he spends exercising on dry land. He eats more reasonable now at 3.5k calories as some high level athletes eat, his doctor may have told him to stop his previous diet as eating a whole large pizza a day is not healthy for anyone.

He's an extreme exception, not the rule. No one else has 28 gold medals, there is only one Micheal Phelps.

"Running a 4 minute mile" is like a common fat people shit-that-didn't-happen. Like a lot of HAES people claim to an olympic level athlete to prove that fat is healthy, actually beyond olympic level. No woman has ever ran a 4 minute mile.

It's always track too, never weight lifting, shot put, or hammer throw, you know sports that fat athletes compete in during the olympics.
Eh, I'd have to disagree here. I've seen one or two of the "4 minute mile" people, but I noticed that those people got laughed down pretty fast when their unrealistic run times got disproven. I've seen more HAES people point to weight lifters, shot putters, wrestling, 50s era strong men, and even swimming compared to actual running by either misrepresenting the "actual weight lifters look fat too" thing while ignoring those guys still have to exercise, or rather hilariously in the case of swimming comparing their fat to the blubber on seals and whales.

Anyone else seen this advertised on YouTube? It flabbergasted me how something straight out of some HAES Tumblr blog could actually afford to host ads.

Holy shit. That art style combined with the absolutely horrible and abhorrent tweening animation actually made me physically sick. I've seen ads with tweening animation ten times more fluid than this and not as jaw-droppingly grotesque. Why have it animated in the first place? If it's a webcomic just show a short summary and maybe some visual effects, because this is just...ugh.

The person who made this webcomic has no fucking clue what being atheletic entails. Being an enraged fatty while running doesn't give you magical burst of speed, it's just going to give you a heart attack.

Oh that? Its one of the top webcomics on Webtoons.

Decided to check the comic for the hell of it and uh, it's really weird. From first looks, it's the stereotypical and cliche romance/comedy story where two people who dislike each other must train together to win a competition, but i can't tell if it's serious or not.

The way characters talk sounds self aware but the message itself seems to be played straight with no irony. You don't win by being the best athlete, you win by "trying the hardest" then? It's like you want to give the fat girl a consolation prize.

(false equivalence btw)

She also gets fucking mad when people call her fat and even suggest losing weight. In a perfect world this would be a story about a girl overcoming her psychological barriers and weight problems, but instead it's just "She is fat and don't take shit from anyone!"

I decided to check the last comics released and it seems like the story has magical fairies now (???) and Jo is stuck in a love triangle (or square???) between a nice guy nerd and a hot model guy who both want to kiss her in the school stage play, and Jo acts all tsundere around them.

In other words, Jo is mary sue.

Holy shit, this art is genuinely disgusting and difficult to look at. The proportions are exaggerated in a way that's not appealing whatsoever and the expressions are downright grotesque. The colors are muted and boring and Jo's color scheme clashes so horribly and looks so tacky. Did this artist not understand the fundamentals of color theory and how to use appealing colors? There's a way to draw fat people appealing and sometimes cute, but this is the opposite of it. I feel like this actually would bring shame to people who are overweight because of how ugly she is. Why would anyone want to kiss her let alone be anywhere near her??? She's monstrous.

So in other words it's a comic about a fat chick who acts like a total cunt to everyone and then blames people not liking her on being fat, aims to "dispell" supposed stereotypes about fat people while having no understanding of sports, is handed a "contest" that is basically designed for her to win, all while pursuing a conventionally attractive love interest with absolutely no self awareness about the obvious double standard that represents?

Quick, someone call Marvel.

The art gets less worse over time, the lasts comics show Jo as a human being instead of a living blob but there are still ugly inconsistencies. For example, the artists doesn't know how to draw elbows/knees, only a weird rosy bump, but on the same time they draw overly detailed neck lines for male characters? Still, it's comical how Jo is a fat jerk and still manages to have multiple guys fighting for her.

upload_2018-5-3_20-22-31.png

You see the eye bruises? It's because the guy on the right gave her a fake stage kiss and the guy on the left got mad and they started arguing. And then Jo apparently PUNCHED both of them.

She faces no consequences or learn from this, Mary sues are flawless afterall. She is also the best actress of the group because that doesn't require physical effort so of course she is.

It's relaxing to see people finally complaining about Big Jo, that comic makes me long for the days of the supermodel half-demon half-wolf Mary Sue with wings.
View attachment 441189 .... altho I think I'd have an easier time believing Jo is a half-demon half-wolf...
Considering the general audience of Webtoons is teenage weebs, tumblrites and fujos you're not gonna hear much complaining about Big Jo. She's not pretty therefore not intimidating or "competition" to the reader.

The amount of overly detailed features like the unnecessary lines around Jo's nose and mouth, the random lines around the dude's crotches that somehow manage to make them look dickless, the over-highlighted animu-esque eyes, the suddenly blobby hands, and the fact that they don't even look like they're even sitting on anything really push this into uncanny territory the longer you look at it.

I won't say much on the writing as too many romance comics do have the main character be a Mary Sue or a blank slate (at least in the shoujo-genre). It's part of the fantasy and I won't complain here because that's clearly what the writer is going for. But either way, it's still a badly written fantasy. It's one thing to make a powerful character. It's another to make an overpowered character so unlikable you can't get into the fantasy. It destroys itself so hard it's not even funny. How is anyone BUT the author suppose to relate to this?

The art is meh. I mean, I've seen worse. It's just there. The only really bad part is the eyes and the highlights of the characters. They're overly detailed and unnecessarily creepy. You can tell the artist has no sense of space or color. Everything they color exists in it's own space. There aren't any value changes and everything is highly saturated making it a pain on the eyes. There aren't any shadows to show where the setting is taking place. There is no shadow for the eyes or the characters clothes making them stand out even more. It's a mess. This comic should not be released in this state. It needs more time because all of the shortcomings show.

Also, the anatomy is awful. For all the talk about fat people being drawn terribly, NONE of these people can draw a proper fat person. Look at the posture and hands of the characters. They aren't even draw with thumbs! This is an amateur mistake. Something a beginner does when they can't draw a pose so they magically hide it behind the characters back so people won't notice. If you are making mistakes like this, you probably aren't ready to be making something as complex as a comic. I hope the artist improves because shit, the art is really mediocre.

Not to sound mean, but she looks like she smells.

EDIT: I came across FemHype's approved idea for a Zelda game with her as the hero. The problem, the girl has no tits.

Ehhh...I'll disagree here a bit. I know Princess Zelda has always been pretty feminine, but having some sort of a departure doesn't seem too bad. Plus, the design is nicely put together and usually Link is a kid in the games so her having a small chest wouldn't be far off. The only issue is that she looks kind of like a purple link. She needs something else. The gold shoulder plate works, but there needs to be something else to make her stand out more.

Good point. I guess I'm just so used to seeing Zelda as an adult/teen in the later games.

The art might look that bad, but i checked the webtoons site and it's like 90% korean/taiwanese animesque artstyle, so Big Jo art looks extremely out of place and the uglyness sticks out like a FAT sore thumb.

And dude, even the "bitch rival who is the exgirlfriend of the main love interest" is jealous of Jo, you cant tell people to relate to the "fat struggle" when the girl is super popular for some reason.

But then Jo totally owns the bitch with her godlike acting skills (that are not conveyed well at all since the art sucks).

The worst thing about the art is that it randomly alternates between passable and awfully lazy every few panels. Like, i know manga can abuse simplistic chibi art but here it doesn't work cause the normal art isn't good so the simplified looks even worse.

Example, this is the main guy drawn "well", or at least clearly supposed to "look good"
upload_2018-5-4_0-55-31.png

There is no fucking shading whatsoever, why should you, just slap some rose tint on dem cheeks and fingers. Then it goes to this:
upload_2018-5-4_0-56-47.png

upload_2018-5-4_0-57-20.png

And it looks really weird and uncanny. btw panels are also spread all over the place, usually mostly outside the panel.

(OH no she needs to kiss TWO guys! #FatStruggle)

Why the fuck do they have these white outlines? Are they paper mario characters? Are they living stickers?

upload_2018-5-4_1-2-13.png

upload_2018-5-4_1-2-53.png

Why does her face have NO details? Why do they have PURPLE AURAS? Why is his* hand going over hers like that? Are these characters drawn separatedly then glued to a background? Are is his left hand broken? Why are her feet so small for how fat she is?

How can someone draw this and think it's okay?
