You're not seeing the big picture behind KIA being around. Yes, they're raging autists, and yes, Gamergate is over, with the likes of Quinn and Sarkeesian starting to fall from relevance. Unfortunately, that's exactly why KIA needs to continue to exist, to hear them tell it.

Gamergate went after the advertisers. They enacted brand damage among the targeted consumer. They starved the gaming press of revenue driving most of it into pretty much bankruptcy. They remarkably never really impacted the gaming publishers, outside of a few specific individuals (how’d that work out for you CliffyB?) But they put very real pressure and assigned very real costs onto a number of the hardware vendors, up to and including Intel and nVidia. The technology business chatter was acutely aware of all of this and was having some major discussions and a few outright panics. Yeah Gamergate didn’t tank Black Friday 2014. But the hardware side of the industry was acutely aware that they could have, and have largely turtled since then and striven to not get involved in anything that even reeks of being an element of the culture wars. The recent Steel Series blunder regarding the Bullyhunt project stands out because most vendors have gotten way more cautious about such things. They don’t put there reps on the line for somebody else’s causes anymore for fear of blowback. Something that never used to be the case. Prior to GG the only potential blowback was from the Left. After GG it could come from any direction. The only winning move for the merchant or advertiser was not to play.
