There are people who got codes to play the game earlier than that. The deluxe edition goes live on the 18th, and the standard is like the 22nd. Phil bought the deluxe edition to try and get early views. Hence why he's pitching a bitch-fit about people getting earlier access.

Zombie survival game. He's been hyping up State of Decay 2 because the first game got good views for him even though that was when he was more popular but he's now got it in his head that State of Decay 2 is now this huge AAA release thats gonna save him, like God of War before that, every non indy release these days is the one thats gonna save him in his eyes.

So yeah, he was ultra hyping up State of Decay 2 as this huge thing and being all "MUH OLD PLAYTHROUGH OF THE FIRST GAME" and now he's learned people are getting that game early and now he's butthurt as they'll be stealing his views. But he'll slap some moral highground false narrative on it so he can complain about it without being called jealous or a baby. A bit like how he tried to slap a moral highground on Ninja playing with Drake when in reality you could clearly tell he was just jealous Ninja was playing with a celebrity and getting big views. Same with this. Everything he says in his tweet is pretty much a lie, what he's really trying to say is - These people get more views than me and get special treatment with early copies. I am jealous, I can't get that.

Let's be even more specific. He paid $20 extra to get the deluxe edition so he could play it 4 days earlier than everyone buying the regular version. Thus, he was counting on "Day 1 Views (TM)". So he's ULTRA-salty that it's being streamed already and he will be losing out on those aforementioned views.

The first one was a third-person zombie sandbox survival game mostly about gathering a group to your base. Not sure about the second but it sounds like more of the same. Honestly I'm not sure why Phil's so hot for it, the days when this sort of game would draw a lot of attention ended years ago.

What I find odd is State of Decay 2 is basically an indie game. The first one certainly was, maybe I'm wrong about the sequel but I always thought of the company that made it as indie rather than AAA.

Its more he's finally gotten attention from people. Every other tweet like this that he's done has just gone under the radar because it's DSP and irrelevant, this one got picked up by a big streamer, which got retweeted by their fans, and picked up by more fans and other twitch streamers, and more big streamers and so on and so forth. They're not really getting defensive its just a dumb as fuck take. Also hypocritical as hell because he does the exact same thing when given a chance but he's the special exception.
