Out of all the conspiracy theories I've seen, 'Dogpatch Press, a furry news blog, told FurAffinity to ban people from FA so Dragoneer did it' is one of the dumbest. Lefty furs have been yelling at Neer to do this for what, an antire year now?

If Patch had any actual cloat in the fandom, Dragoneer would have jumped to do his bidding ages ago.

I'd be far more likely to believe IMVU told him to, if anything. They get tagged into political slapfights by both sides constantly, so looking how other platforms like Discord have dealt with this they probably felt it was time to step in and crack the whip.

First of all, I doubt IMVU did anything as their approach towards FA seems to have been really hands off all this time. I don't think they even understood what a Pandora's box they have bought, they just try to keep it away from own sight it seems.

It's likely that the lefty furs just were exceptionally loud lately which prompted Dragoneer to react. And being a lazy fucker in charge of a group of lazy fuckers he just used the alt furry blocker list because performing proper investigation on his own would mean putting effort into things, and not like he has anyone motivated to delegate this to. And now that he has done this, you shouldn't expect him to do anything else meaningful in several months. Because he's a lazy fucker.

I wouldn't discount personal vendetta either. That's a possibility, since certain AltFurry people have been harassing Neer for quite a while. I still remember that Twitter account where one impersonated his dead cat.

Dogpatch was claiming to have been sending stuff about the altfurries on FA to IMVU's press contact, and IMVU might have gotten spooked from it. Like it or not (I sure don't), but Dogpatch has some nonzero amount of clout in the ol' online journalism sphere, and "IMVU Refuses to Remove Nazi Artwork" isn't the greatest headline.

Additionally, look at the history of FA. The only things that have EVER driven Piche to do anything are things that threaten his role as Overseer of FA. IMVU replaced a bunch of it's management last week. I'm sure Piche is spooked that these new managers might question what the fuck the company is doing operating a furry porn website. Best to just keep the controversies to a minimum and stay out of sight and out of mind.

I do love the annual FA purge though, same shit every year. Neer does something truly amazing and people leave/banned or quit for a week. But, he and everyone elses knows they will simply come back and/or make dodge accounts. Nothing ever gets solved.
