I think Jake means that someone his mother is connected to was having a crisis of some kind, and he, brave Violet Hargrave, who feels so deeply, had to listen to his mother and nod sympathetically, which totally meant he himself had spent the day tending to the person in crisis.

I think what happened with the matchmaking was that Bria mentioned seeing an attractive troon, Jake claimed to know said troon and then he vastly over-exaggerated his role to that of wingman and matchmaker. I note that while he said that he was arranging the date, he didn’t specify who for - plausible deniability in the event of being called out.

While this is probably the case I like the idea that Jake DM’ed the tranny chaser that he found the object of his lust.
