Brianna Wu / John Walker Flynt - "Biggest Victim of Gamergate," Failed Game Developer, Failed Congressional Candidate

It was in between nasa camp. All these things sure do sound like places girls would have been in the 80s, huh John?

Hey there, I was a girl shooting guns in the 80s and wanted to go to space camp. Every child of the 80s wanted to go to space camp.

But I really came to post that Brianna finally got palm cards, a year late. And she apparently left an entire town (maybe the most progressive town in the district?) off the list. I think I would have to try to be this incompetent, and I'm not claiming to be particularly competent.

You know that she (probably Frank) sat around thinking "Old people vote. Let's think of something that will make old people scared and want to vote for me" and the result was the crap about saving you from people who want to steal your social security. It's transparent and it's not going to be effective. It sounds like a bad infomercial.

She'll protect you from the hackers who are trying to do all that, then turn around and sell you out to the good people at Facebook and Google who are doin' it for free!

Enjoy Soylo: A Soy Wars Soyry, John - a well-deserved rest after hitting the campaign trail HARD all weekend, I'm sure. Also tweet baleeted for no apparent reason.

Interesting. That Rich guy tends to be an utter lick-spittle for Wu.

Think this may be one of the few times I've seen him disagree with John on anything.

In a way, Frank gets to employ the ultimate control (which his ex-wife touches on in detail) over John. He gets to play God and design a human in his desired image
Having a notch in your head isn't Frank's desired image.

These are going to be collector's items for sure. Next time I'm in the area I'm totally looking for one.

Using that several years old photoshopped to hell vanity picture where he's posing with a stationary motorcycle is a nice touch. Wu looks nothing like that and has never looked anything like that and no one would be able to identify Wu in a police lineup if all they had go off of was that picture. At least there's some continuity with The Black Dress being in the picture, that one's easier to ID.

yes I know, that's the Black Dress 1.0 and he's upgraded to Black Dress 1.1rc now that he can't fit into the old one

I think girls should be able to do all those things. My point was, back in the 80s when John was a little boy that’s who primarily was taught to shoot rifles and sent to space camp.

Also, those cards look terrible. They read like a terrible fanfic. “Fight the hackers trying to steal your SS#” why not add “the ninjas that steal girlfriends”? Also, when people say they are cybersecurity experts they usually add a qualifier like “with x years of experience working in y” and yet there’s nothing and we all know why.

Speaking about unethical game studios that lose money for everyone involved (including all employees)...... How's Giant Space Kat going?

I'm confused. Schilling fucked over the taxpayers in the state (well politicians probably deserve more blame for giving a bad loan out) and himself. But how did he hurt people in the games industry? Sounds like employees got paid for their work.

If she's talking about investors, risk is part of the game. And if anyone was dumb enough to risk their fucking home to invest in a new MMORPG being made on a shoestring budget, they're pretty stupid.

Peering into the mind of a pathological liar is so weird. Most of her lies are about things that don't even need to be lied about.

Where in the world is Carmen Stephen Lynch?

Oh yeah, he's out actually campaigning and being a politican whilst you sit at home playing pretend.

There's like 5 tweets before this about how Stephen signed some bill Frank Bribri thought he should.. basically nothing (Brianna thinks H1B's are GREAT for tech workers and that we all love having to train our minimum wage, unqualified replacements, and that IMPORTING CHEAP LABOR somehow benefits LOCAL WORKERS), but there's one huge chaos emerald gem of irony in this one:

I don't agree with much Trump does, but if he can blow up the "skilled worker" visa scam, then good for him. As a software engineer I wholeheartedly support every effort that can be made to cut the number of people who can come in on that sort of programme. To have any other position is to side with the bosses at the expense of the people who actually do the work.

The idea that the hiring company has exhausted all efforts to find the same skills in the host country is always a laughable formality, usually rigged by offering too little money for the role. The person they hire is essentially an indentured servant, unable to change jobs and entirely beholden to their employer for whatever they choose to offer them. What's more, show me a single company that is a heavy user of the skilled worker visa programme that doesn't have offices in either India, China, or both, where most of these employees come from. If their skills were so indispensable, they could happily work in their native country for the same company.

These visas are good for nothing except depressing the wages of highly skilled people in the host country. We already get the shaft compared to management despite being the people who actually do the work and make the company tick. Fuck Wu if she doesn't understand that.

Not understanding this and letting Trump own this issue has a lot to do with why he's President now and YASSSS KWEEEEN Hillary isn't.

Not to reveal my powerlevel too much or make this too political, but this ^.

Now don't get me wrong, I still have several friendships with the folks that I have trained in past work. Many are good people. My job has never been on the line because I'm "top card" you could say, but I've had several friends/coworkers replaced.

Having developed these friendships I have paticular insight into how crazy it is.. My friends from India tell me that in their entire college career they never touched a computer in class. They simply watch somebody else do it. Then they're hired (the better of their "fake degree" holders), and don't even know how to write a proper for loop! It's only piss-poor management that goes along with this, they take YEARS to become productive at all because they have to learn EVERYTHING on the spot.. But they have the advantage that you mention: indentured servitude. They literally can't change jobs unless they line up a new sponsor beforehand. They have no bargaining power.

I know of ONE person who has managed to do this, thanks to a specific interest by me at mentoring them and their drive to become as good as they can be. The rest? Negative productivity. Other workers have to fix all their shit if they even turn any in. But some inept managers only see $ / hrs and don't count productivity... They're the problem, but you can't fix them. What you can fix is the broken system that allows them to import cheap labor and replace $80K/yr folks with 3 24K/yr.

To tie this all back into the topic of Brianna, again goes to show has no understanding of real world software development, or economics. How is replacing high paid workers with low-paid workers which send money back "home" (because they're NOT local) a boon to the local economy? It's not. It kills high-paying jobs and eventually companies lose all their prime talent and stagnate.

I personally liked the one before it:

I don't know what part of this is the most clueless: the complete lack of knowledge of any of the issues brought up by the previous few posters, the sneering dismissal that companies might actually be able to find qualified Americans to fill these positions, or the clumsy attempt to somehow make this a "woman's issue" (the women not being from America, of course). Only "progressive socialist" John W. Flynt could be so forward-thinking as to advocate a position that would be useful only the absolutely wealthiest and most powerful people in the country. Sublimely beautiful.

Oh god yes. Also power levelling, I've spent a fair amount of time in India for work and while the overall experience was fun (living in a developing country with friends on a first world salary, how could you fail to enjoy yourself?) the work experience was thoroughly depressing. Most of the poor shits are graduates from Pune Upstairs Technical Academy, they have no inherent love for the work, it's just a comparatively well paying job. Typically even the young people are married and have children, and many of them didn't even have a computer at home. Software engineering isn't really engineering in any real sense, it's basically an artistic discipline. You can't be an artist if you don't love your medium, and working with assembly line artists is the most depressing experience you can have.

I think a lot of Wu not understanding this issue is that her only point of reference is Frank, and Frank is not a technical worker, he's basically an executive one step removed from A C-level job. Her entire view of biotech is coloured by viewing it through the lens of someone who isn't actually at the sharp end.

I think a good argument can now be made that lab technicians and software engineers and the like are no longer really white collar jobs. Is there a single company left where any grade of technical worker will be offered a company car? Nope. No amount of seniority will get you out of awful open plan office space in to a nice private work environment. If your company has soft-walled cubicles then that's a fucking luxury. At some point the senior software engineer career track just ends and you're expected to become some sort of leader, which involves stopping doing the work you presumably enjoy doing and starting doing something you may well loathe. If people choose to make that jump, that's up to them, but it's a real pisser for people who have absolutely no interest.

I work in the industry too. The H1-B system has been a scam for years. Most of the people brought over aren't "highly-skilled". They have rudimentary knowledge of the job skill and get trained. Of course after that the company now has an employee they can pay half what they pay an American programmer. And since switching jobs on an H1-B is complicated, they also get an employee who won't push for more money or leave for better opportunities.

And the pathetic thing is people like Zuckerberg pretending they care about immigration policy for the humanitarian aspect. In reality they just want cheap labor for their companies to add an extra billion on to their net worth. Otherwise they'd pay these employees the same as their American counterparts.

There is no shortage of "skilled labor" in many of the areas that H1-B visas are granted. Last I checked companies like Facebook, Google, and Microsoft make billions in profits each year. And if there was I'd rather see us push college grants and training programs to give Americans those skills.

I know these tech companies have become the darlings to some on the left because they put a cool doodle on their homepage a few times a year. But they're as anti-labor as any industry in the country. They've been caught colluding to not hire each other's employees and abuse the H1-B system to drive down salaries of one of the few middle-class jobs we have left.

John doesn't give a single flying fuck about people who work these jobs. He's the epitome of a privileged do-nothing trust-funder, although it's contingent upon chopping his cock off to satisfy the weird fetishes of a screaming mongoloid midget.
