Battlefield General - Discuss the series here

I don't want to seem overly melodramatic but

WW2 realism with women fighting, what in the fuck...

The sheer number of women who enlisted in vital non-combat military roles (at least in Britain) shouldn't be understated, but this is just plain inaccurate.

The trailer ends with a female soldier with Luke Skywalker's hand hitting the enemy with Negan's Lucille.

Inaccurate is too soft a word for this horseshit.

I feel like this is more insulting to the women that actually did serve. Like the WASPs and WAVEs didn't exist at all.

Although to be more accurate I'd love to see a WWII game that portrayed the "home front". Kids collecting aluminum, women building rifles and planes in factories, movie stars going on war bond tours. It would be an interesting break between generic shooty levels.

Ouch. Normally I think people would have no choice but to eat up this shit, but there's so many other hardcore WWII FPS coming into early access and full release right now that the competition will be stiff. And none of that "roger, roger" SQUAD ultra-tactical niche bullshit either, these are solid titles with wide appeal to both infantry and armor enthusiasts alike. Hell Let Loose and Post Scriptum are the big ones right now, but there's a couple other I can't recall off the top of my head.

It's a new game from EA and it looks like the same, awful game from EA that EA's produced, without fail, for the last decade or longer. I don't understand why everyone's surprised. How many sequels does, "Terrible Shooter Made By Terrible Company: The Game" need to produce before people stop getting outraged by it? I don't even particularly care about the inaccuracies because if the previous game based in WW1 was accurate, more often than not you'd just die to mustard gas or a sniper shot or a mortar shell after standing around in a dirt trench for two years. Accurate doesn't sound super fun.

The point's more that it's the same game they sold everyone last time and the time before that, and the time before that, except now they've added yet another mildly different coat of paint. Seriously, there's a million and a fucking half WW1 and WW2 shooters, already. Why spend $60 and then $50 on a season pass for a game that you probably already own 30 times over? I don't understand why people repeatedly buy games like this. They're just the yearly football games of shooter games, except the people who buy these shooters make fun of the people who buy the yearly sports games, whilst buying the yearly shooter games.

2004: Study shows that WoW is majorly escapism!

2018: Study shows that WoW is majorly escapism!

Also 2018: People want handicapped, retarded, PoC, transsexual, greykins with missing limbs and intelligence in their historically accurate shooters!

How does all this make sense? Shouldn't the SJWs play non-reactionary games like RPGs?

Accurate doesn't sound super fun in theory, but Red Orchestra/Rising Storm developed some pretty dedicated communities. Of course they'd rather buy one game and play it for 5+ years than buy a new one every year.

You do realize that the historical Waffen-SS was filled to the brim with non-Germans, right? 5th SS Panzer Division "Wiking" was composed almost entirely of (admittedly white) non-Germans. And at least 4,500 Indians formed their own SS regiment. Women, too, were non-combat auxiliaries. Racial policy was often subordinate to the realities of war.

It goes to show you that the picture of WWII you've been taught is wrong. Not at all playing this cookie-cutter shit, but I just wanted to point that out.
