I had the idea that Jim was Ted Bundy, but apparently she doesn't like him, so we can cross him out. I was guessing Jim Morrison based on the wild life style and drugs, but apparently "Jim" died in 2008 so that answer is also out of the question.

Jim Morrison didn’t have a daughter though, as far as I can tell, so he’s still out.

However, "Jim" reminds me of Heath Ledger. Died in January 2008, drug addiction, died in his apartment, suspected to be bipolar, and had a daughter. Could just be a coincidence, I don't know why the name Jim, but he reminds me of him regardless.
