This whole "not the REAL version" shit is so confusing to me. It doesnt seem to apply to any other game genre. Its not like Phil plays the most recent CoD and complains that in CoD 4 everything was different and these deaths arent legit because "THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS, THATS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE!"

Is it so hard to just admit that you like the version of the game you are best at?

People talking about 30-somethings not being able to play on reaction have a point, but it isn't the be all to remain competitive. Aside from putting time into the lab and getting your execution down, you also need to be able to read your opponent. If you are able to make good reads, playing on reaction isn't much of a factor anymore. That's why Valle, Daigo, and Tokido are still relevant today dispite their age. A blind man has the best hearing.

Yes, but this is Phil we're talking about. I think the point is that he is not at the same skill (heh) level he once was and is gradually getting worse.

If Phil is going to play like a drooling autist, he is better off picking Akuma. He is better at controlling space than Ken is. Ken is just better of dishing out damage and punishing mistakes (and lacks the shit health).

But, of course, leave it to Phil to pick a top tier for the sake of it and not know how to play him.

Between him chickening out of the LTG fight, getting his ass kicked back and forth by normal difficulty AI and randoms, and rage quitting the game he's 'pro' at this really is the moment that shows that the emperor has no clothes. I mean he's sucked at SF before but he's always pulled the excuse that this was a different SF. This AFAIK is the closest to ST we've gotten so far, the version he claims to specialize in, the version responsible for in his mind his moment of glory.

Now he's reduced to claiming this or that minor difference is causing his losses which as other people have pointed out is hilarious since the version he 'won' evo with was itself nonstandard ST. Honestly what is there to be proud of when your so called talent you have defined yourself around if it even exists is so narrow and specific? Its like being proud of being the 4th place ping pong player in the US but your game falls apart unless you play on one specific table.

So the dude that just a few weeks ago, set twitter alight with his negativity and jealous opinions is wondering why no one wants to interact with him. I'd say I'm surprised by his logic but then I remembered its DSP.

I think the thing that triggers me most about dave is his shitty underhanded tactics of the pre stream. I’ve honestly never seen anything quite like it. Every other streamer I’ve seen has it up for maybe 20ish minutes tops, it’s point is to have your stream active for your viewers while you do any last minute set up.

But not dave, this fat fuck uses it to bitch and moan about the same shit he bitches and Moana about everyday for an hour almost daily, he’s clearly just sitting on his couch, it’s not a pre stream, it’s an IRL stream before the gameplay stream. He never even bothers starting up the games or having them even remotely ready, he 100% thinks pre streams are just what people do when they are sitting on their ass getting their hands sticky for an hour before actually playing the games. It’s honestly just gross.

Instead of doing all this bitching while he plays the games he’d rather sit there for an hour bitching then almost play the game in silence because he did he hour of talking already unless someone tosses a few shekels his way.

And of course I can’t forget this idiot wouldn’t have to complain about never having free time or his voice if he cut out these daily hours of just non stop crying.

He frequently gets caught off guard as a result, like today when he found out the PSN was down for maintenance when he went to load the game after the prestream. You should be checking your setup during the prestream while interacting. I've never seen another streamer not boot up the game at some point while setting up. Or his fucking speakers that he always realizes are on right before starting.

But my favourite part is his shitty, transparent stall tactics to bait more pitybux at the end of prestream. Repeating himself needlessly instead of pressing a button to start ("It's time to start... yes yes, time to begin! LET'S GET IT ON! Hahaha, really excited to get rolling, to get going!"), talking insanely slow, long pauses of silence for no discernible reason, repeating verbatim things said in chat without adding anything... I don't know if he thinks he is doing a bit, or if he is actually just that bad of a shyster. It's also a great contrast with when he has 5 minutes before his clock out time and he suddenly starts talking like an auctioneer to get out 'on time'. Suddenly he rediscovers fluency.

I honestly don’t know why he just doesn’t do IRL streams and just bullshit with people for a hour or two a day. I’m pretty sure most of his fans don’t even care about the game he’s playing half the time, and most detractors just tune into the the pre stream for anything to laugh at him about because it’s the only place he talks about shit that’s not just what’s happening on his tv screen. The only one who cares about the games is dave.

In fact fuck it, I know you’re here reading this with your soulmate the gin bottle dave. Just stream yourself watching a movie and you and your fans can just watch movies together and talk to each other, I’d bet his fans would eat that up, they can pretend their really on the couch with their hero having a beer and talking about life, just don’t forget daves House is bring your own bits.

These 2 hour rant fests are nothing but holding court to hear himself talk like you said for option 4. I have absolutely no idea what he thinks they contribute, especially since he takes a 15 minute break at the end.

It's like going to your dumbfuck bumfuck 8 to 5 and spending the first 2 hours of your shift BSing at the water cooler. Try that and see how long your employment lasts.

Phil has a weird thing where he's willing to make himself look like shit in one thing just to not look like shit in the other. Like thats how the whole TIHYDP thing started. He wasn't willing to be seen as a bad gamer so he made himself be seen as a whiny, shitty person who can't take criticism. Even though plenty of other Lets Players do well enough even after being known as a shitty gamer, because them bumbling about in a game is part of the entertainment for people (Which is why Phil has lost a lot of views too, the stream chat guidance gets rid of a lot of those fail moments and the bumbling around he used to have before he streamed) he'd rather be known as a whiny bitch.

Same here, he can't admit that he's older now, and has ring rust essentially and over time due to the lack of tournament play his skills have waned in fighting games in general, but especially in Super Turbo which in the past 10 years he's rarely played. All he'd have to say is "Yeah I'm super rusty now, I hardly play this so I've lost a lot of the skill I had. I'm sure if I practice more it'll come back but right now I'm way behind." but instead he'd prefer to be known as a liar delivering a bunch of excuses, and also a hypocrite because of the whole EVO 4th place thing. And now he's throwing his EVO placement under the bus just to be seen as good NOW.
