People got upset about this one because it's got vaguely sexual undertones and this character is 15/not supposed to be aged up in this picture. I can honestly get how drawing a nude pinup of 15 year old with cum-looking liquid dripped on her might've raised eyebrows, and I remember her responding by sticking the image on the front page of her webcomic to retaliate against the criticism.

Apparently this isn't her first time handling 'discourse' about her work in an unprofessional way (but I'll have to see if I can find any receipts on that).

I wouldn't say "unprofessional", but it is making them look worse than if they'd have just ignored the drama or issued a simple statement, maybe imply someone was trying to start drama. Also IP blocks are ridiculously easy to get around. (I would also wager the $500 is more hoping a fan finds it, and then says "no charge, thnx for comic").
But the artist was hounded off Deviant Art by tumblr outrage a few years ago, so I guess I see where the artist's meltdown is coming from. OTOH, most of the characters are underage in the comic, so proxy commissioning porn of them aged up is a little...weird.

I generally like the comic, and I don't care if web artists draw porn shit to pay their bills, so I'm not exactly unbiased.

this is why I consider this worth mentioning here. it feels like something a lolcow would do and if this is the tip of some hidden iceberg i want to be around, paying attention and archiving.

Putting $500 dollars for an IP address when she has an email is absolutely a waste of money and it makes her look like she is zealously looking for revenge.

now that I've seen the images I have to say that it looks like she's being accused of a whole lot of nothing. though there were people who said the same thing about purplekecleon back in the day, but that's another can of worms

Yeah, apparently in 2015 according to the remnants of the slapfights that you get when looking up the current drama. It was over "pin-up" type artwork of the characters, not about the porn from what little I'm read. Maybe someone can provide more info, I just did enough googling to figure out what stirred up the hornets.

I think the "something more" is webcomics attract drama like a magnet and someone is butt-hurt about something to try to stir up a lynch mob, and the comic doesn't have enough mentally ill tranny characters and insufficient amounts of queer themes shoe horned in to keep tumblrites from saying bad things about it (and the creator is white, not a tranny, and I believe straight so that's more strikes against it). But I really don't know. I don't follow fandom shit or "creator communities", so maybe there is some lolcow gold in them hills.

Agreed on all points; I think the artist is just melting down because of previous drama forcing them off dA. And I can get taking a zero tolerance "I want these fuckers out of my life" stance. But who knows there might be something there; The whole comic post-paradise gateway has had this weird kinda 'mature themes' tonal shift.

Because the most you see in history is "Man/Female/I don't know, some sort of faggot" for societies where becoming a man actually had a barrier for qualification beyond "has penis". And you needed to have some bin to replace the dudes who couldn't hack it.
