Didn't mention in my initial post but this isn't even the first time this happened in the waifu community. A very similar case happened months ago where a user sought professional help for his pedo tendencies and got all his shit taken etc, but is hard to pull all the relevant messages together since that user left and tracking messages made by people no longer on a discord server is tedious (since from: search no longer works).
Here's a quick one from right before he left where he confirms he still doesn't have his stuff back and that the drive with the "offending images" will never be returned (no shit lmao)

The so-called Tarasoff rule, laid out in a court case after a psychiatrist failed to disclose their client was about to murder someone. This is in tension with the general rule that psych professionals are required to maintain confidentiality. What’s described in the article actually doesn’t sound, by itself, like it justified going to the police. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt, though, and assume at least for the moment that he had said something a little more than merely that he had fantasies.

If you believe a person is a danger to themselves or others a therapist is typically law or license bound to alert the appropriate authorities. Child abuse in particular because children are entirely dependent on a caregiver and thus can be easily abused. It also isn’t uncommon for a therapist to alert authorities, consult with a supervisor, or put someone under an involuntary hold for something they’re not well versed in such as fictional child Waifu’s.
The therapist is covering their ass at the very least. If a child did end up being abused the therapists notes could be seized and they could be sued or lose their license for negligence
But that could happen too if they broke confidentiality without a good reason and I don't think a patient saying he fantasies about fictional children would count, he must have said something else or lives in a state where fictional cp is illegal, I hope is the latter since that's the least harmful option.

At least in r/waifuism, there's a rule about "excessive head canon." But this guy, much like he denies the porny nature of his daughterooooooos, he denies that aspect of her source. He runs a sub where he posts a picture of her every day--hey, what wife wouldn't love that kind of obsessiveness?--and the rules for other people posting pics are tailored to his personal feelings about the character.

I don't know how common this behavior is among waifuists by proportion, as the definition I use is "if you own a bodypillow, you're a waifuist" and based on that I'd say by proportion this isn't super common, but I can see how definition I use would perhaps be too broad so if we're using a more restrictive definition that requires unironic headcanon involving you personally and that character then it's probably pretty common.

It's like he saw a girl in the show, decided she was "the one" and the context of the show doesn't matter. Of course part of the appeal for these people is that they can be in a relationship where every aspect is under their control and they can remake their "partner" and "children" into whatever they like with no conflict or pushback. And luckily for them, they can explain that this Sanya is from a corner of the multiverse where she's 100% hetero and in love with them.
There's definitely a Jin vibe here, not just with the extreme waifuism, but the combination of jealousy, claims of not being a pervert like those porn guys, and extreme likelihood of actually being an incredibly depraved pervert despite this, much as with Jin.
I agree! He's still living at home and is "in the closet" as a waifuist so hes sort of a Jin-in-waiting. If he were on his own, I think he'd be much further along the Path of Jin.
