Timestamp at 21:49 for those on mobile or whatever. I genuinely laughed at loud when he said "Uhhhh... Bullshit, I did command throw!" Anyone who doesn't play ST wouldn't pick this up but even an asshole like me -who sucks at ST- knows that what Phil said was completely wrong.

ST has a particular tick-throw system. When you fight characters with an unblockable command grab (Zangief, T. Hawk, and Honda) they can go for a tick setup where they can force you to block a move and then go for a command grab. In modern fighting games one of the ways to escape that kind of setup is to jump or dash backwards. But you can't do that in ST, not to mention there is no dash in ST. So, you have to commit to an invincible special or super to get out of that situation.

Dee Jay's upkicks is an invincible special and can be used to escape the tick setup. Anyone who is familiar with ST knows this. But former PRO fighting game player Phil, 4th place Evo Champion DSP, highest ranked American ST player Phillip FORGOT this. This is the equivalent of just forgetting how to block in a fighting game. Or for those who don't play fighters; the equivalent of forgetting the AWP in Counter Strike one-shots, or forgetting that the BFG in Doom destroys everything, or forgetting that Mario can run and fly in Mario 3, or forgetting that Samus can morph into a ball in Metroid, or forgetting that you can rocket jump in Quake 3, you get the idea.

I think Phil has Alzheimers. I present this as proof. You don't play a game for over a decade and then just forget about one of its most fundamental mechanics.

Perhaps this is the issue he can't talk about? He has Alzheimers or Dementia or something? The gin has destroyed his mind? Something.

Nah, he's just bullshitting. He thinks he knows better than anyone else, so he doesn't think anyone will know well enough to call him on it. Whether he's trying to convince himself or convince his paypigs, I'm not sure.

Phil gets around 1.6M views a month total on Youtube at present. His average CPM would have to be $3-$5 for that to be true. What is your friend's CPM, about how many views a month do they get, and what type of videos do they put up (which apparently matters for the CPM you can get)?

It could be a case of mental gymnastics on his part and if you point out his mistake he'll answer back "DOOD! This port is running at the wrong speed! Therefore, you're a complete fucking idiot and my tick throw should work! ACK ACK ACK!" Even though a change in the game's speed, even a slight change in this case, still doesn't change the rules of the game. It's like playing an old NES game, let's say Mario Bros. for the sake of argument, on a shitty emulator and saying that jumping on Goombas to kill them no longer works. The game's speed might affect your timing but it wouldn't change the rules of the game.

Whenever the salt sets in, the words leave his mouth on their own without him thinking the shit through.
(Like the time he blamed online-lag even though he played against the cpu)
That's also the reason why his excuses are generally usable in all online fighters like "Nothing I could do" and "I was blocking".
Saying something gamespecific on the fly is way too hard for him.

You're almost there. He's bullshitting, yes. But it's because he knows that the game he is playing is older than his target audience. His commentary isn't meant for us. It's meant for his teenage paypigs. In that sense, he really does know better than anyone else.

Hey guys, just a heads up *snort,* since I begged so massively hard last quarter, I need money more than ever, okay? As any adult could tell you, every dollar you give me should actually be two dollars, because after twitch - those fucking book smart idiots - take their cut, and after I spend it all, the tax man comes along. And even though I did nothing wrong *snort*, he expects me to pay him tax money for the money you gave me. I know. It's crazy. My tax attorney didn't warn me about this. So now I need $4 for the $2 you gave me.

Next quarter I need $8 since you gave me $4 now. Makes perfect sense, okay?
 
Exactly it is inescapeable and because his sheer greed he could clear both those houses mortgages and still never be happy or satisfied. He does not realise that you could bleed your subs dry and the reservoir is suddenly dry but boo hoo muh depression or ze detractors, it is everyone else's fault but his.

Similar thing is happening to wings of depression because he is bleeding money with the similar surgery and in all honesty about 95% of his viewers are people who hate him.

guys now that i failed my exams im really angry so let me air this out :
right off the bat you notice thatthis guy is a huge narcissistic douch bag and not the jog type but more like the sneaky guy
albeit dumb sneaky but still he is that type who kiss ass and lie just to get his way
he is also a manipulator like how he changes his tone when he wants to sound "broken" and "sad"
or when he shakes his head when he wants to appear "lost" and "powerless"
so when a guy like that says that depression is something he's in constant battle with

if you guys remember when he was telling us about the TAXES when he felt like theres a heavy thing up his stomach and that happened to him only twice in his life one time when he got the copy right strikes on his yt channel and once when tax man screwed his ass
so that tells me that this guy doesn't have that capacity to feel psychological pains like depression
when a guy's only problems are money that should give you a hint about his personality
fuck if he was depressed money would be the least of his problems
how many depressed guys you have met that would rather leave their "true" friendships behind just so that they can save some money by avoiding taxes ?
as a final thought this guy is trying to sell us an image
and in this image we find a man an alpha guy that LOVES his gf the guy that is SMART LOYAL WISE always ahead a man's man and the latest edition is : he is a survivor ! he is a lone wolf ! and for this image he will do anything he will lie twist his words anything but the image must remain !

yea the best part was when he was asked by people if they shouldnt have donated in the first place, or not donate too much in the present in case it puts him in a higher tax bracket again he pretty much said something like "No no no WRONG.. more $$$ is always a good thing not a bad thing, just in that circumstance it ended up being a bad thing"

still think he was straight full of shit on that whole thing which isnt really shocking news
 
Weird that he's bringing up depression now just as rumours of Curse hitting the rocks start to spread. If I didn't think Phil was such a mongoloid, I'd think he's deliberately wheeling depression out as a political move to try and make it more difficult for Curse to ditch him without looking shitty.
