I don't know, that's true on some level, but on another Hirtes seems to crave validation... especially from people that badmouth him. He's not one of those trolls that's truly satisfied by negative attention, though he often pretends to be, but you can see how much it enrages him to have things happen like being banned from here or having his troll accounts reported. It's sincere anger too, not just the "Well darn" that an otherwise uninvested troll would have.

Hirtes is basically at this weird level of autism where unlike Chris, he understands that people don't like him. But like Chris, he thinks he's the greatest thing ever and that everything he does is just, right, and true, and he absolutely cannot understand why that doesn't rally everyone behind him, and his lack of understanding enrages him. He cannot comprehend that his behavior is not the path to glory, because he wants to insult people so that should work out for him, after all he's Michael J. Hirtes! As seen in that one link, he even does Chris's behavior of thinking "I'm sorry" is a magical incantation that means people can't hold you responsible anymore, and then got further enraged when that didn't work. He's basically like the tiniest, smallest bit less autistic than Chris, but all that does is let his inner asshole be magnified many more times than Chris's is.
