Meh, I like Dr. Who, but I'll never understand the strange obsession tumblr has with it and why tumblrites like to project their sexual fantasies on BBC shows...and Game of Thrones.

(just had a de-ja-vu moment, I feel like I've posted this exact post before.)

I like Doctor Who, but I haven't watched it in a long ass while, probably because A. the fandom rubbed me the wrong way and B. everyone gives me flack for watching the episodes out of order.

Evening citizens of the internet. Anywho, I searched around and didn't see a thread for this, but I think it's about time there was one for SuperWhoLock. Mind you, I am very new to this site and I could be wrong and this should just be posted under general Tumblr shenanigans, if so, please feel free to delete this thread.

For those of you who do not know what SuperWhoLock is, it is a mix of three fandoms: Supernatural, Dr. Who and Sherlock. Why these three? Because they are the three biggest fandoms that are infested with batshit, rabid fangirls. They combined their powers and tomfoolery into a titan that is known as the SuperWhoLock fandom.

I have not browsed it much, but I have lost friends, good friends to this fandom, and never seen them return to sanity since. Much drama revolves around shipping wars, crossovers, head cannons, and trying to constantly generate "feels." Hyperbole is a must for this fandom, and you must always reblog some GIF of one of the characters giving significant glances to one another... Even if they are from completely different shows.

Nonetheless, there is a growing rebellion against this titan and the rage spewed forth is awe inspiring. I have a few things that I have found, but I rarely venture to Tumblr as it is so confusing and utterly overwhelming.

I have barely scratched the surface, but I have heard first hand of some of the drama that goes on.

...And that's pretty much my opinion of the new BBC Sherlock series.

Dr. Who? Don't get me started. We'll be here all day. As a lover of good hard science fiction the series enrages me. "I've got a thingy that goes 'bing' when there's stuff!". Seriously, do they not even give the writers a choice anymore? Do the just lock them in the office and set fire to big piles of crack on the air intakes until they come up with some kind of mis-mash that vaguely, kinda, MAYBE, resembles a linear plot ?

Also, you think the Bronies are bad? I've lost a friend to the deep, deep Supernatural fandom. She's told me Con stories that would turn your hair white. Those people are a fucking cult.

Sorry for all the dumping, I just keep discovering more crap as I wade through the depths of Tumblr. For I have discovered even more, so far mainly Sherlock as that is the most I have encountered. Dr. Who will be tomorrow. I will also start searching for the mixed fandom in general, but I have found a few pieces.

At a SN panel discussion, with all the big names of the series in the seats- a batshit insane obsessed girl fan actually overpowered the security folks and threw herself at Jensen Ackles feet on stage- begging him to marry her. Topless. She was eventually overpowered and dragged away while screaming "I LOVE YOU! WE WERE DESTINED TO BE!!" as the cameras still rolled.

The Con staff swept it under the rug, but the vids are out there if you search hard enough.

Most of the auctions close in a hurry because the sellers put a "buy it now" price, But I've literally seen stuff like notepads the main actors have scribbled on go for like $3-4K. Actual stage props can run up to $10K, and I'm not talking anything special here- like a dagger or weapon used in a specific shot- we're talking shit like background posters n' assorted crap.

I used to follow my friend's Tumblr, but she got so sucked into the mania and posted so obsessively that I had to stop looking at it.
I noted that she often reblogged fan pictures and comparisons and theories of some of these actors CHILDREN.

Some people also hated their kids purely because it was evidence that the actors had been with another woman. On the other hand, some LOVED the kids and would edit, zoom in, make GIFs, and even make entire tumblrs dedicated to these actors' children. I would be mortified as a parent, I couldn't watch it anymore.

The main example that comes to mind is Jensen Ackles daughter. Seriously, look that shit up.

Is it wrong if I asked this: Would that even be the actual prop from the show? For all we know, it could just be some replica that some diehard fan paid way too much money for though I can admit that I could be wrong and it could actually be a prop from the show. Nearly a thousand wasted on some plain gold ring.

It's pretty amusing that they conflate jilling it to gay porn to being some kind of activist. I'm sure they wouldn't say that a dirty hetero cis man who jerks off to lesbian porn vids is Rosa Parks. Or that they have no issue with pedophilia or incest (I'm not going to look for it, but there is a screencap of someone's tumblr where they fangirl over the idea of writing some underage incest smut about the actors who play the kid versions of the supernatural leads) as long as they're the ones writing and masturbating to it.

These people come across as very "stab crazy" and not just because they constantly threaten to stab/skullfuck/kill/etc. people who have a different opinion than them. There's something about being this dedicated that lets you know that something isn't right. Like the Chinese and Korean gamers who play games until they die. Or guys who murder each other over football. When you're so devoid of a personality you just adopt an external thing to be your entire personality you're setting yourself up for some bad times.
