r/legaladvice - In which reddit's finest minds solve the world's weirdest legal problems

Bro, I'm from the Great State of Texas. I'm not saying you can't defend yourself. What I'm saying is using a gun to do it probably ain't a good way to do it. I'm pretty sure you can't even get away with that down here.

I'm taking what is probably a liar at face value, but if someone is trying to murder you with a vehicle, you are entitled to view yourself as under deadly threat and react accordingly.

Redditor gets lazy and gives a shady site his Blackboard credentials, they proceed to fuck him over :story:

Bro just don't do your homework. Take the 0 like a man. Fuck homework, school is for chumps anyway.

This one hit me in the feels. If you feel like cheating on your homework, just don't do it instead, but if you feel like cheating on your spouse, end your life.

Dug through military chick's post history dude's mentally ill, non compliant with meds, thinks her being raped was cheating, and basically moved in a broodmare. Now the cucking is as funny, I hope he ends up stranded in Louisiana with 0 custody of his kid. I wish OP a good career in the military and a bounty of pizza.

Is really sad how many service men and women end up trapped in shitty marriages.

If you go through her (OP's) post history, he's cheated before and she's depressed. It's quite sad.

What if you feel like raping your daughter then leave video evidence for her to find later?

I wonder if it's military service makes you more willing to put up with abusive behavior of if people more willing to put up with abusive behavior are attracted to military service.

People jump right into marriage before or after boot camp because you get to live in an actual house on or off base. Having babies means you get a bigger house, moving out of a one bedroom shack where your roommate lives in the living room was totally schizo's motive. Enlistee's do not make a lot of money. It doesn't help that her normal meter is already broken from being in an abusive first marriage. She honestly believed that he would be a good guy 2 years ago.

He's evasive when asked what he's done to get someone trying to run him off the road. The arguments are hilarious regardless.

This is why I doubt his actual story. There's one specific thing where he says he drew his gun but didn't "brandish" it. I'm not sure exactly what that is supposed to mean. Because if he pulled out a gun and visibly displayed it, that's brandishing. He didn't have to point it at anyone for it to be brandishing if the intent was to intimidate.

You don't get the usual self-defense defense if you were the one who initiated the violence with threats or actions.

From what I gathered it would seem more likely for the other guy to be able to claim self-defense. It looks like the other car swerved only after he brandished his weapon (without drawing it, no less... is it supposed to mean that the gun was already in his hand while traveling?) after being cut off.

He actually said "I drew but did not brandish. . ." Probably because he at least knows that brandishing a weapon is itself a crime, unless in self-defense, and the situation hadn't turned into a strict self-defense situation at that time.

This week's episode of "she told she was 18" is an instant classic.

I live in southern Texas So as stated in the title, my girlfriend told me she was 17(I’m 18), but after her parents found out about us having sex she told me she’s actually only 14. I know I should’ve known better and that I was thinking with the wrong head , we were in a relationship for a few months. When I asked her why she lied she told me it must’ve been a typo despite the fact she said it multiple times before. Is there anything I can do to help my case? I have screenshots of her admitting her mistake but I’m not sure if that’ll help. Her parents are under the belief that my motivation was to just have sex with her and nothing else.

Shut up and talk only to your attorney because you're looking at up to 20 years in prison. No that is not a typo twenty years. Do not have any further contact with her or her family.

Would it be a smart move to try to have a mature talk with her parents and confess how everything went down in hopes that they decide to not press charges and realize it wasn’t just all about sex?

This kid is gonna end up having a thread here. I just know it.
But all things aside, what the hell does it mean 'skipping exam week since I exempted'? How is this dipshit exempted from school?

Some schools allow you to skip the final exams for some courses if your grades are high enough. It’s usually a tactic to curtail students from skipping too many days, as if most of them don’t skip the last few days anyways.

260 pounds at 14!? Jesus Christ, even being generous and assuming this kid's somehow over 6 feet tall at his age, he is well into the dangerously obese range.

His poor parents have probably been told he's gonna be dead before he's 30 at the rate he's going, but instead of realizing how bad that is he just complains that his parents are buying him "overly healthy food" (lol what) instead of big macs all the time.

Also you know you're a fat fuck when the other fat kids at your fat camp think you could stand to exercise a little.
