Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the unfortunate woman in question who lived with Dobby was actually his second gf. He made some DA post about how he had moved to a new city, got and lost a girlfriend, got a new job, etc., and was basically saying how he had to "grow up fast," or something like that, in a very short span of time. I always got the impression that happened before he met the live-in woman-of-Jewish-heritage that he treated so shittily. She may have been his first actual real gf, but I think this other previous one was able to smarten up and cut him lose before anything much happened to scar her for life.

The first one was the real Alexandria from Switzerland. But they only had some kind of online relationship and never met in person, and probably Dobson hadn't told her she was supposedly his gf.

Fortunately, it seems after that summer she cut ties with him completely.

He claimed he drifted away from her after she got married, because like the actual True And Honest™ Nice Guy™ he really is, OF COURSE he did. Nothing says "I was hanging around waiting for you to dump your boyfriend so you could be my boyfriend-free girlfriend" like not contacting a person after they get hitched to another person.

His art was pretty good conceptually back in his MCAD days, and I think that's becasue he would have been given specific parameters to work within and had to reach a certain standard. Some people work way better with limitations imposed on them rather than complete creative freedom. Even though Dobson seems to dislike working like this, I think he actually does better when he has to work with limitations. The problem is that now that he's graduated MCAD, he probably consideres this sort of creative setup to be beneath him. On top of that he's mentioned that MCAD supposedly taught him the "wrong" way of working and he needed to re-teach himself to draw after graduating. Methinks he took a lot of great guidance and advice and threw it straight into the cistern.
