A brand new trailer for Bella Thorne's return to the big screen has arrived, and her new role is definitely a far cry from the romance and emotion in the recently released YA drama Midnight Sun.

On September 21, fans will have their chance to see Bella in the upcoming film Assassination Nation. The thrilling satire, directed by Sam Levinson, was previously shown during this year's Sundance Film Festival, and after receiving critical acclaim and some serious buzz, the rights for the film were acquired by Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo, Entertainment Weeklyreported.

According to Deadline, the film also stars Odessa Young (Lily), Suki Waterhouse (Sarah), Hari Nef, Abra (Bex), Anika Noni Rose (Nance), Colman Domingo (Principal Turrell), Maude Apatow(Grace), Bill Skarsgård (Mark), and Joel McHale (Nick). For her part in the film, Bella plays the role of Reagan, one in a group of friends grappling with the effects of a social media hacker.

The film's official plot, reported by Deadline, provides more details behind the social media-inspired story, saying, "High school senior Lily and her group of friends live in a haze of texts, posts, selfies and chats just like the rest of the world. So, when an anonymous hacker starts posting details from the private lives of everyone in their small town, the result is absolute madness leaving Lily and her friends questioning whether they’ll live through the night.”

In a newly released red-band trailer, viewers are given a brief taste of what to expect from the film, with a narrator beginning the trailer by saying,“You may think I’m exaggerating, but this is the story of how my town, Salem, lost its motherf*cking mind.” The trailer is then comprised entirely of trigger warnings, flashing them on-screen with titles like, "fragile male egos," "transphobia," "giant frogs," "sexism," "bullying," and "racism." After quickly flashing through the brief clips, the trailer ends on a final shot of a mysterious masked person, with the narrator promising, "This is 100% a true story."

Going to the gym is toxic masculinity now. Then I suppose women doing the same are all dang dirty TERFs.

I'm gonna be really fucking disappointed if this doesn't involve witches. Not the stupid Harry Potter-kind but the spooky kind that eats babies, curses whole towns and uses human teeth in their weird occult rituals.

This is not an adaptation of Sarah Vowell's morbidly charming travelogue of the same name?

Unsubscribe.

EDIT: Vowell's travelogue is Assassination Vacation. Still recommended reading.

What the fuck did I just watch? Is this like a 100% serious attempt at an SJW movie?

Whatever it is, it looks like it was made by a bunch of people who spend most of their time up their own assholes.

Looking forward to your review, Cole.
Honestly, this.

I can't see a film this absolute trash propaganda and hyperbole being made for anything more than a nose up in the air 2edgy4u failed film snob put his 2 cwcquarters in on it.

I doubt Cole will bother with it, but one can dream.

I can't tell if that trailer is supposed to be a parody of itself or serious, or attempting to parody itself but failing miserably.

i think the passage you quoted gives the true intention of the movie away. its probably just a dumb millenial retelling of the salem witch trials for the digital age (ugh i gagged writing that but i had to get in the head of a dumb hollywood producer)

I can watch this in theaters and give my take on it, if you all would like. Looks pretty dumb but I have a gift card.
