I've never subscribed to Self, but if I did, this bullshit would be enough to make me cancel my subscription. It's a health and fitness magazine, aimed at women who are interested in those topics, and putting Tess Holliday on their cover--or featuring her in its pages at all--is essentially telling its readership, "Yeah, it's totally okay to just give up, throw in the towel, EAT ALL THE THINGS, and become a landwhale. Who's to stop you? Fuck it; you don't even need this mag."There's a tweet passing around for her.

That's not what their readership is there for, and it's an insult to readers who actually give a shit about their own well-being. I can understand putting a chubby-but-athletic woman on the cover, because someone like that could be seen as relatable and inspiring by a lot of readers. But Tess isn't even remotely relatable or sympathetic to Self's core audience. She's anti-aspirational. She is, at best, thinspo for their readership, because the last thing Self readers want is to look like her.
This is legitimately one of the most insane decisions I've seen a magazine make. Sure, the issue will sell out, because FA types and fat fetishists will buy them all, and there will be controversy that creates a lot of buzz, but I don't see how this could possibly be a good move.
I would actually say it is our business. If you’re encouraging women to put on weight as an active lifestyle choice, then people are right to ask questions about the consequences. Particularly given that Tess also lies a lot about her actual size and uses image manipulation, shapewear and selective angles, poses and cropping to make herself appear thinner. And this is from a health magazine.

Yes, actually, a kid is more likely to develop an eating disorder like anorexia and/or bulimia because of a constant harassament in the household. Or to binge eat to cope with the stress of the situation and become obese.Anyone who outright tells a child they’re too fat is a terrible person lol
Really if anyone is worried about their child’s weight, they do have it in their power to make healthier meals and dish out proper portions. And they should have it be a thing the whole family is involved in because it’s just responsible.

Also, wouldn't it make more sense to do a swimsuit photoshoot by the ocean or something? I sense an attention grab.
This is the fat acceptance MO. Wear a revealing outfit or be naked, go out in public for a photo shoot and hope you get asked to leave or cover up, cry to trashy Internet gossip blog outlets that think they're news, cash in your 15 minutes of fame for not being allowed to exist in public while fat. No, they wouldn't go to a beach where a bikini is acceptable attire, there's no attention to be had there. Those legs are...wow.
I'm skeptical that a man said 'plus women' anything--that's a fashion term.

Anna doing what she does best, eating:
what is going on with her tan lines and makeup?
Jesus Christ those filthy fingernails.
Do you think if your internal body temp got high enough your fat would start on fire? When one hits 600+ lbs is there any reason NOT to start doing meth? Other than dying of hyperthermia because your blubbery ass belongs in the arctic.
