New They've been going to the laundromat with the cats a lot lately. I don't get why she doesn't wash some of those plushies while she's there. Most plushies can at least be machine washed on the delicate cycle and then air dried. Is she somehow attached to the grime on them?
Maybe Junji Ito would be embarrassed by his junkie sadgirl gf taking up 5+ machines with her ratty stuffed animals in front of functioning adults. Plus, that's more money.

Oh god, the last two close ups of her makeup. Ewwww. Plastered on grime and absolutely thick layers of smeared on base with shit tons of caked powder. This isn't makeup, this is spackle.

Does she an Lurch have any plans for where they are going when their time is up? Cant imagine her dad is going to want Lurchette there, let alone her slacker dudefriend.
I can't tell if the discoloration on the corner of her mouth and by her ear are bruises caked over by makeup or just grime.

I'll take my lates, but they look like bruises to me.

Why do all of the characters she draws look like the Twins from Superjail

Thank god life has never hit true bottom for Loony, because then she might not be able to summon the wherewithal to take photos in her grimy skimpies. That would be a true tragedy.

Seriously, I don't think she has any desire to, intention of, or got anywhere near low enough, to attempt to clean up. She deliberately chose this; she's absolutely starring in her own life; dramatic sad heroine who pours it all into her (fantastically shitty) tortured art and who, no matter the tribulations, can always trust in her loving rock of a man. Every pic, every post, is the next chapter in "Luna; The Artist, The Girl, The Survivor" and until she either realises she's not the next Edie Sedgewick (who was also nothing special) or at the very least starts to write herself a different story to star in, nothing will change. The saddest thing is she thinks this is some huge melodrama, whereas she's as humdrum and boring as the rest of us. And as for her Romeo and Juliet perfect love....Lurch is more Shylock. She's a commodity to him.

I just hope she can wake up to this before she's totally blown it. Her reasons for getting into hard drugs were insane, but that doesn't negate the very real achievement of getting off them and finding a humdrum little life to be happy in. Very few of us are special or hyper-talented and most of us have to face that reality. Adulting doesn't come with participation trophies.

End of :autism:

Edited to include more recent updates.

The bitterest of times continue on for dear old Luna. One must wonder: how long will she prevail in a world so rife with reasons to succumb to The Sadness™? Summoning the the courage to leave her bed, slop on a few pounds of cosmetics, and swallow carefully selection rations from her hoard of pills- Luna remains participant and protagonist in the tragedy that is her very existence.

The drawing she left off with last week garnered an insufficient amount of praise. Alas.

Our heroin(e) looked away from herself for a precious moment, captured Pepper on the carpet she and Lurch seem to be gradually overcoming with their filth.

What a bore, she realized, returning her attention to her most satisfying pick of all.

Jesus Christ, this bitch has at least $50 worth of Copics and she doesn't even bother looking up how to use them right. I saw a Crayola Super Tip though and you can get a 50 pack for like $7. She also doesn't seem to realize you can refill Copic ink. Fuck her.

If she wasn't hamfisting her markers like a sperg and pressing so hard against the paper to create that uneven, streaked effect, her markers would last a lot longer. The speed at which she goes through markers is absurd.

Well, here's the thing with Copics: if you wanna get rid of the streaks, all you have to do is go back over what you just colored and they go away as more ink comes out of the marker, you also have to use them on good marker paper, otherwise the paper will just soak up all the ink and not blend well if you're using, say, printer paper. And then you can use the colorless blender to make patterns or texture, because it sucks the color out. And yeah, you don't need to push hard, the ink will happily come right out and the nibs won't get fucked up.

I like her art. It reminds me of 90's MTV and the shit I used to draw when I was 5.
Her best quality is that she commits to each drawing and completes it, with colouring and often with backgrounds. A finished okay drawing will always look better than a half-assed drawing with better technique. Sonichu has a similar appeal, but Luna's style is far more derivative and "knowing" to be outsider art of that caliber.

Maybe unpopular, but I just think every single one of her drawings is an ode to herself. She never improves, she never tries a different style, medium or palette and it's constantly, endlessly self-referential down to the tiniest detail. That kind of limitation would drive most people crazy. Could any of you guys that just draw casually be happy with such constrictions?

Sorry, I just think its narcissism in scribble, produced for the most base response, ie. self-indulgent uwu and gimme dibs.

Ps. It's also fantastically lazy. If you really want pink, you don't need an expensive marker. Buy a 20p bottle of red food colouring and make it work...

The embellishments she adds do make them frequently unbearable - any piece of writing consistently ruins them and some of the poses are mawkish in the extreme. Equal to that issue, the ripped-off style also caps any interest they might have beyond Tumblr culture. I think it is seeing them in notebook form that I enjoy the most, page after page of things that she bothered to finish to whatever low level of standards she is held to. Comparing this to somebody like Tearzah who just copies and pastes shit on her computer.

That's partly why I dislike it so much. That's not how a normal workbook looks, not even for a disciplined artform like calligraphy, where you have to practice the same strokes over and over and you'd expect to see the same thing.

I've never seen any workbook like Loony's and that's why I think its less about art and more about knocking out shit to a pattern known to sell. Here, rock through this, pick what you want, $70. Because I am sad and look, these all show my pain. That's $70, in case you didn't hear. Or I can't eat and will starve and *grinds onions into eye for effect* $70 will save me from KILLING MYSELF!!!! Just $70 for my poor, sad life...is my art not worth that to you? O woe is me.

I've no doubt, from occasional horrified forays into DeviantArt, that there are equally venal creators with even less effort so maybe Loony gets some dibs for that. It speaks less to my art skills and more to my utter computer incompetence that I could knock out Luna's crap quicker than I could copy and paste!

Luna-esque.

I'll colour it in for free. Just gibs me £500 of pens <3. And I'll add razorblades

The Copic abuse gets on my nerves, too. You're not supposed to apply much pressure or streak it back and forth like a normal marker. It's to be used more like a brush, and if you go in little circles, you get a nice solid, even color.

If you're going to use it like Crayola, might as well save your money and just buy Crayola. Or at the very least a set of Chinese knockoff Copics.

Her anatomy is shit, and I don't mean "intentionally weird as an artistic choice," I mean flat-out bad. It looks like she just wings it and goes straight to lineart without sketching, which is the kind of method that only works if you're a really seasoned artist. Otherwise, you're going to end up with a piece of art that looks like a fourth grader drew it.
