That thread is sad. This is a very uncomplicated matter: a man and a woman were fired from a games company because they were grossly inappropriate with and aggressive towards customers, including customers with visible community profiles, and games companies can live and die in a heartbeat on their reputation with fans.

If the admins of ResetEra are smart they'll use this as a learning event and get rid of all of the mods that turned that thread into a ban-happy clown show. Even among the overly-PC regressive left they've taken a hit to their reputation. That is spectacularly hard to accomplish, too. And I say this as a very liberal person.

However, one of the worst offenders is himself an admin and "community manager", so the possibility of ResetEra no longer being an embarrassing facsimile of NeoGAF won't change any time soon.

We see a steady incline from the forums inception til some time in April where it goes parabolic and hasn't shown any sign of stopping. Was there a catalyst for this or is this somehow related to the bot itself? Either way, that is an impressive rate of growth over the past 3 months, they should be very proud.

The text at the top of the page explains

• These stats are based off of scanned posts, if the bot hasn’t scanned it, it’s not included.
• Any threads that were buried before April 21st 2018 and never bumped to become a recent thread have never been scanned.

There are over 1 million issued Post IDs on ResetEra. I've considered attempting to query each one individually, but the initial scope of the project was to keep a running scan of recent threads, which it does with a few small gaps in data. I have to keep a balance of not being overly aggressive with ResetEra's servers so to try to grab everything would be a scan that would have to happen over multiple days.

It's just another thing on my TODO list.

I'd say that a non-coding game designer (like a crucial one, especially if they have novel ideas) is a game developer even without hard skills.

But if all you're doing is dialog for a an MMO, yeah, nah, you're not a game developer. If your soft talents can be translated pretty easily to a non-interactive medium, you're not a game developer.

The cult of social justice has long made it clear they don't give two shits about that, though. As long as you're a chick (or a brave "trans" woman) and have a job in anything marginally related to tech, they're automatically a strong womyn in tech and therefore supposed to be immune to any and all criticism.

By not towing that line, you told ResetEra you hate women working in videogames even though that is not the case. It's funny and unsurprising ResetEra picks another hill to die on, one where they side with a woman who was not well-liked in some of the communities she moderated, especially when she responds rudely and abrasively.
