Brianna Wu / John Walker Flynt - "Biggest Victim of Gamergate," Failed Game Developer, Failed Congressional Candidate

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Ugh oh. @AnOminous what are your thoughts about the likelyhood of getting a ding on the Wu Scampaign here over inappropriate use of campaign funds? She spent campaign funds on this shit... I can't imagine a world where a judge would consider "I drove my friends car and it went vroom vrooooom" campaign-related...

Which line items do the expenditures correspond to? Unfortunately as long as they're disclosed, you can get away with murder.

At this point I don't trust any of these numbers at all. That $60K of unitemized donations is complete nonsense.

I'm wondering where it's supposedly coming from. Smurfs? Or did they somehow actually turn up a swarm of idiots willing to cough up $60K in amounts less than the disclosure requirement threshold?

Let's compare this to Q3 2017, the last time Frank dropped full dox on his donors.
In that quarter, there were $4556.89 of "small donor" donations - the kind that would be showing up as an unitemized total now.
These donations average about $33 apiece, and came from 100 distinct individuals.
Now, the unitemized donations increased about $56K over Q1. That would be about 1707 average donations - if we assume they're all subscribers (unlikely) that's still about 570 new individual paypigs on top of the original 100. That seems fanciful given that there hasn't been any discernible campaign activity going on.

It's not perhaps entirely fanciful. She got 15K in donations from the last ActBlue campaign alone, from 265 donors at an average of 60 bucks a pop. There were also some other lesser ActBlue campaigns. Mostly that was from spamming the living shit out of her donations page on twitter.

I think she's mostly been using data from Grassroots Analytics and her campaign slaves to solicit donations from randos on the phone, and I think that approach is basically breaking even since they brought in about as much money as she paid them. Warren mentioned doing some cold calling on behalf of Wu.

This would be the Twitter ad buy. I think it's perfectly legal though - telling the electorate who you are and what you're like as a person is absolutely a legitimate campaign activity. It's just that for John it happens to be electoral suicide.

ActBlue campaigns
Can you point me to those? I'm going back through some old spreadsheets but I'm drawing a blank here.

This is from the websites, e.g.

https://secure.actblue.com/donate/briannawuforcongress
https://secure.actblue.com/donate/briannaontheballot

see the totals raised. She switched entirely to NationBuilder for her payment processing at some point, so we stopped getting these updates.

Also, that's something again missing from her accounting: ActBlue fees.
So wait, if she raised $15K from ActBlue, where is it? They've never had as much as $15K in their bank account at any given time, except for right now. Do we have any idea how long that campaign was up? Maybe it was over 9 months or something?

No, this was over a week or so during this quarter. It was when Wu was really spamming the shit out of her donations page. May I think? I'll look tommorow.

May I think?
Ah, that would explain it. Then it's probably part of the big $65K number this quarter, and my double-counting theory is disproven.
So I think your analysis is pretty much right - it's $15K of ActBlue, probably about $5K or so of long-term donators, and $45K of "behind the scenes" work like phone spamming.

Sorry for double posting, I want this one to be it's own standalone thing not connected to Wu's finances.

CANDIDATE FORUM WITH LYNCH, VOEHL AND WU. August 1st.

I will be mad on the internet if a Kiwi operative does not go and provide a site report. @Kroster ? I think we have others in the area.... I beg of you.

Ah ha! It seems my predictions towards the end of my autism rant here were correct!

The thing is, Brianna only goes on camera is the most softball of situations where she has complete control over everything: no questions about the past/qualifications, no bringing up Gamergate in any way except basically was world war 3, etc. She's so full of shit that she's been "at risk" in any of their completely controlled media appearances.

So... this makes me wonder: has she been contacted about doing some sort of high-exposure thing, be it national news or whatever, BUT it's not through her normal backchannel friends? Like, is she worried about doing it and is setting up already the narrative that "when they said I went to college for 10 years but don't hold any degrees, and killed my dog by leaving him outside in the cold so I could whine on twitter, they were totally taking me out of context! See, [reference tweet] I knew this would happen."

Doing an interview/panel/debate prepped like that would mitigate the risk of losing anyone who "supports her" on twitter ( they buy into her bullshit like it's Filet Mignon. They think she is so unfairly harassed and such a great person ), but has a chance to actually impress folks who aren't already following her ( except she's not impressive, despite her thinking so of herself ).

So if you're reading this Brianna, and my suspicions are right, I say do it. Go do the national news debate or talk or whatever. We would all love to say it, you've already mitigated any loss from it "what have you got to lose?"
Show us how great you are. I'll be waiting.

It will be really interesting if she actually shows up and doesn't have another "accident" and get "injured" like with those events Warren @W person cow had to go to in her stead.

Yeah, I wish it wasn't on a Wednesday afternoon. I guess that's one way to make sure only locals show up.

Hey, John can pack the venue with his legion of unemployed Twitter asspatters. Oh wait, none of them live in Massachusetts.

Can't wait to see Lynch, Voehl and the entire audience routed by a balding, squealing, middle-aged transgender ghoul wearing motorcycle boots and a cocktail dress with a crotch-level hemline.

Looking at the replies to promoted tweets, Wu isn't targeting district 8, or even the state, but rather infesting timelines nationwide. Seeking out-of-state donors or feeding his insatiable need for attention?

Oh dear, blown the fuck out on the Twatter again just hours after posting that the network is a great tool for empathy.

"I don't follow anyone's ideology" yeah okay, I suppose it must be coincidence that the only thing you is regurgitate the most mainstream points of view all day long like the fucking network news junkie you are.

The other full time member of staff is Chris Reardon, this guy:

I'm loving this diverse team of pee-oh-cees that John has hired like he said he would. #JohnFlyntCampaignSoWhite

"The central problem in America is money in our political system."

No, don't mind me, I'm just gonna let that hang there for a bit.

Surely expensing unrelated flights must raise some eyebrows?
They'd have a hell of a time proving it was unrelated. The documents clearly show that a good half of Wu's donations come from the intersection of Tech and Soy, and going out to where those people congregate would look valid on its face. Unless you could prove John did absolutely nothing there that could be considered "donor outreach" I don't think any complaint would have legs.

you could archive all those minute-by-minute tweets he promoted

Let me see what I can do. The time of day is a little awkward for my work schedule, but I might be able to shuffle some things to make it work.
