Just compare the like-dislike ratio of a video made on Monday and Last Friday to ones released more recently

All I can think is.... so what?

The man can do whatever he want, if he wants to make a religious streaming service, go for it. It's interesting how in today's "ultra-tolerance" world, it seems religious people are one of the few types of people you can still freely shit on and not face too much consequence or criticism. Places like Freedom from Religion Foundation (which I'm sure would love to try and destroy Butch over this) can fuck off, let people believe what they want.
If he did I don't think anyone would've minded it. It was no secret that he was a practicing Christian. The point is is that he was purposely vague on that aspect in his kickstarter info.

Not only that, he said he was going to start one even if he didn't make the Kickstarter goal, meaning that he's pretty much scamming people.

Like I and many others have said earlier, him being a CON ARTIST is much worse than him being religious. Take Doug TenNapel for instance, he's a religious guy who's gotten in hot water for saying questionable shit, but people still respect him as a creator (mainly due to Earthworm Jim) and Armikrog (regardless of how you feel about the game itself) still got crowdfunded quite seamlessly because DTN isn't a scammer

I know many others have said what I am about to, but he never publicly clarified that it was a religious thing until after the Kickstarter reached its goal. If he were just doing a Christian streaming service and was honest and upfront about it, that would be fine. But he hid it so that he could get blindly get money from people by using the "I created your childhood" card. He also said that it "can't just be a Christian streaming service, it has to be cool, it has to be hip." Basically meaning that he wants to indoctrinate non-Christians into his religion.

Personally the whole "Oaxis is going to indoctrinate children to Christianity!" is pretty silly. It's a niche thing that'll only be popular with its niche audience.

But I think it says a lot that Butch said that his shows held Christian morals and values to a room that has most likely never watched his productions themselves. The guy is scamming both ways.

That's up for debate.

Children, at the age he's targeting, are more prone to believe things without making their own opinions about it. I'm not trying to be anti-religion, believe what you choose to believe. I'm just making a point.

Yes, I don't believe it will get to Netflix level strength, but it may still be viable in some way, especially with the Christian conservative groups, which there are many of, and some are very large and very profitable such as Focus on the Family and the American Family Association. I believe that once it gets closer to launch, more groups will start pouring money into it. Again, just a possibility.

The funny part is that the newest Veggietales incarnation (co-produced by Doug TenNapel) is on fucking Netflix so even the crowd he'd banking on probably won't give a shit about Oaxis

Sooo... horror movies and adult shows are the literal devil huh Butch? Until they get you views at least.

There's a lot of projection going on in this thread. I think Butch just likes to be as appealing as he can toward general audiences, and then sticks by whatever he ends up making as it being "harmless fun and entertainment."
Like with the fans shipping characters, I agree that it's a very petty thing to ban people over, though I don't believe that his religious values are the culprit. I see him as being insecure toward anything going against his series' cannons.

Same with the "So I can wish for anything?" meme. I bet you that he never saw the original "9-11 version", and instead saw a very tame one that he ended up using for his video's thumbnail.

Eh, I kind of got the impression he was conning the christfags as much as he was conning everyone else. If this is meant to be a legitimate business venture, I very much doubt that he would *exclusively* limit himself to a *very* small niche that is Christian programming. (Trust me, even most Christians think Christian media is shit.) Of course, this whole thing seems like a money laundering scheme to me.

Regardless, I don't believe that the "con" to this is, "Surprise, it was a Christian network all along".

His ego actually goes farther than this.

"My friend drove behind Butch Hartman on the way to work once, he knew it was Butch because he had a vanity license plate that spelled out his name. Also he doesn't use turn signals" - according to a now deleted tweet

Can I say that Butch's ego rivals that of Chris's yet?

Thanks to @wes for creating the thread on Butch. You're a real winner, champ.

Is there a way to request for mods or staff to combine this thread with the new one? I know the Tanacon one got combined with Tana's lolcow thread. Or do you guys think this one's better off as it's own separate thing?

EDIT: Assuming the thread is approved and taken out of proving grounds.
