On the one hand, it's kind of dumb, and I only really know Shazam from that one episode of Justice League where he fought Superman, on the other hand, it does look like it has its charm.

I'm not a big fan of him, but I have respect as apparently he was the first "real" superman and Supes later ripped him off.

You'd think Bob would find Malibu Comics to be "Inferior Past" considering what did them in. For anyone unaware, in the 90s Marvel Comics bought them out.....just so they could have access to the machines they used to digitally color their comics and then proceeded to nuke the universe Malibu set up which will never get used again because they're waiting for the creators to die off so they don't have to pay royalties.

It's funny too since some of those titles, while derivative, would be right up current Marvel's alley like Prime and Mantra. Still locked up with everything else for the past few decades despite Marvel not really even referencing them. This is around the time Marvel first went bankrupt but yeah, Marvel bought a whole other company just for a handful of computers.

Also "humbling" is kind of the opposite of "I got off to obscure comic artists complimenting me" but what do I know?

Funny, I was just reading up about this myself a couple days ago. The more I read up about Marvel's history and their business practices, the more I reach the conclusion that they are quite possibly one of the dumbest and most asshole behaved companies in modern day existence. No wonder why Bob loves and jerks them off so much. They are literally him but as a business instead of a person.

Minus of course the fact that they aren't just some amateur fucks publishing out of a relative's basement.

It's a really baffling story. Surely just buying whatever early 90s program they ran would've be more reasonable. It'd be like finding out the Fox buyout only happened because Bob Iger thought they had really comfortable chairs.

Anyways, I now hope Bob will bring up Mantra as a "transgender superhero" one day because that's always a fun can of worms with people who haven't read any of it.

Didn't they have to buy Malibu to get it because they had a patent on the technology?

I could be mistaken but I thought that was the reason why.
