Part of me is willing to believe that Marl and Glip were that disconnected, that he really wasn't telling her anything, because he'd been the third wheel for such a long time. Maybe Marl maybe really was playing things up and making up stories to "look cool" (including involving Glip in the dog tapes, just to seem like he still did anything with her, if appearing to live up to his fantasies is what he was trying to do), because I remember being a kid on TCoD where Eevee was a moderator and a lot of the kids (literal kids!) looked up to him and wanted to be as 'woke' and "good at arguing" as he was, and molded their opinions to match his. Now why would they do that?
