However she also loves to gloat about her master's degree. Even with tard-level handholding, that requires some independence. She can survive going to college (maybe the structure is what she craves?) she can at least live in a halfway house.
I'd also like to point out that her parents are probably just overly accommodating, the whole cat spiel is most likely just because even as Stephanie tries to appear hard, edgy, unique, and woke, she is naive as shit and probably got coaxed out of a murder hookup by her father who saw the red flags. Nobody who isn't murdering you, keeping you in their basement, or pimping you out would agree to her batshit "coddle me" terms.

I don't think she's mentally disabled. Autistic, certainly, but not to the point where she couldn't be independent if she was willing to try. But I honestly don't know any parents who would want their daughter to move out with a stranger she met via a Craigslist listing, even if their daughter wasn't an exceptional individual like Steph.

I do feel some sympathy for her parents. I'm sure she's always kind of been a weird kid, but I know plenty of people who were pretty weird in their youth and still grew up to be somewhat normal individuals who can maintain their own independence. In Steph's case, she fell way too far into the Tumblr echo chamber that functions a lot like an abusive spouse that tells you everyone else in your life is terrible and the enemy and you should resent them and cut them off if they don't believe in 100% of the things you do. She also caught the Tumblr Victim Complex bug that tells you that you shouldn't even try to get a job because you're definitely too disabled even though you haven't given it an actual attempt.

I came really close to posting that discussion she had about being catkin because I think it's interesting that she uses her therapist as proof that she's not delusional. For the record, I don't think she's delusional in a mentally I'll sort of way, I just think she never grew out of her edgy tryhard phase. Like the vast majority of "otherkin," she likes the attention and to cry oppression. But as far as I'm aware (and someone who knows more than me, please feel free to correct me on this) LCSWs are trained to use certain DSM criteria merely to be on the lookout for certain signs/symptoms so they can make referrals as necessary. I don't believe it's in their scope of practice to make diagnoses.

And I love how she always flaunts her social work degree like it even means anything when someone else has already posted in the thread that she doesn't have her license. Cool, you were able to be handheld through classes, but you never actually took the test that proves you're competent to use your degree. Basically, you have a very expensive and worthless piece of paper, Steph. You aren't a social worker and you have no real world experience in social work.
