Yes, but it bothers me for a different reason. 18 yrs ago doctors did NOT diagnose those under 18 with psychiatric illnesses. Heck, they still prefer not to, but insurance doesn't pay without a diagnostic code to fill in their forms. Therefore, she either had the most irresponsible doc ever or she's lying about being diagnosed at 10. I think she's lying.

Could she have gained SOME weight on ADs? Sure, but much less than people expect. At most a kid would put on 10% of their body weight and then lose it when they came off. Considering the childhood pics we've seen of AL (she was already very large) I assume any doctor would have put her on weight neutral meds or even one that would help her lose weight. The meds aren't at fault.

But what's this? Oh dear, Little Timmy's puppy has injured it's paw. She's soooo exhausted, the world has been heavy on her shoulders today, surely....but no, she cannot turn him away. And our brave gorl heaves herself back out of bed and prepares to wade fifty miles through the flood (that just happened too) because only she can save the sad kittens of this cruel, dark earth. She alone is the small beacon of hope in a tumultuous world.

Yet she asks nothing in return. The weight is only cast on those who can carry it, she bears her burdens without complaint and expecting no sainthood. A small plaque might be nice, but...

If anything, doctors are probably less likely to push SSRIs on kids now, since so many kids end up killing themselves or others after going on those meds. I don't think doctors can diagnose personality disorders on people under 18, but she says she was diagnosed with depression. Lots of doctors also prescribe things for something other than the reason most people are on the drug, like an anti-depressant for anxiety, or they prescribe things completely off label.

Don't mean to sound like I'm backing Hamber up but :powerlevel: about 20 years ago I was on medication. Would have been even earlier, but my parents were against it. When I was 15, they relented, partially because I wanted the medication.

Amber is a habitual liar so I'm comfortable dismissing everything she says without a second thought. However, getting SSI for a child is one of the biggest avenues of welfare fraud. If you can get a child diagnosed (even if it's not your bio-child but rather a foster child), the child is awarded SSI and the guardian gets the check. It's usually ADHD but depression or OCD wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility--though at the very least she's embellishing by claiming she was only 10. She was probably a teenager.

Tbh Ricky probably couldn't do what AL does; I don't think most people could. Most people couldn't eat their way to 600lbs before 30. Most people couldn't take AL's routine of sleeping, Walmart, and Chinese Buffet every goddamn day. Most people couldn't throw away money on Walmart junk like AL does. Most people couldn't be as blindly narcissistic and abusive as she is.

To give credit where credit is due, AL is actually pretty unique, which is why we watch her. She wouldn't have the following she has if she had nothing to offer. It's just completely fascinating to see someone fuck up literally every aspect of their life and just not realize how bad the situation is. Idk if I'd call that admiration, but it's definitely something.
