In an ideal scenario, Chris would find a reliable high school or college aged kid he could pay $50/wk to help him a couple of hours a week. Just go thru his ebay, patreon and emails and make sure he's up to date, help him (or at least teach him) to package stuff, and maybe go to the post office once or twice a week. They'd be working in a slop house with a lunatic but the work would be easy and they'd get some laughs.

There's gotta be at least one trustworthy kid in his neighborhood who needs some extra cash. The money Chris would lose he'd quickly regain and more because he'd be more efficient.

He's not losing any money now. Why should he spend money on help for no reason?

As an aside, I'd like to welcome our newest member, Slop House Lunatic.

Efficiency? A lackey to pawn the less glamorous work (i.e. packing, driving to the PO, running errands) off to so Chris has more time to ... watch MLP and play with Legos, I assume?

It's not a bad idea.

Good point but there's nothing wrong with making more money either.

He's not losing money but he is getting negative ebay ratings which could hurt future earnings. The Sonichu bubble will likely burst one of these years. It'd be good for him to do all he can to keep it going.

But tbh, I can't see my scenario happening. Even if the right person was ever found they'd quickly tire of Chris spending money on toys that's earmarked for the shipping of books and other things.

Wonder if that was a leftover quirk from his childhood as it was said he learned to read using them?

I think that's likely the case, little minor things like that can form into habits quite quickly even in normal people but in someone like Chris it can be something he's picked up and it stays for life.

I could see Barb an Bob having a rule for Chris when he was a kid - "Now Chris you can't watch the TV without putting the subtitles on" after they noticed or thought it might help him in some way and now it's just something He does through habit.

I'm probably late on this but he does a quick beg for money in the latest "Shoe Colouring" video.

At 34:30 he 'begs' for about $100 to get Barb new glasses.
Chris could have just wore the shoes he had (there are perfectly good undamaged shoes he shows in the video that he wore at Bronycon) and saved the 100 bucks he spent on Adidas shoes to pay for his mother's glasses. Shoes that he ruined by spray painting, by the way.
